What an absolutely pathetic response You have no case in regards to Deacon's talents - look at the record books ffs
Great club man & professional - well thanks for stating the obvious but compare HIM to YOU & its a pity that you cannot be classed as a great clubman. Try & get to a game sometimes matey.

Hull FC Fan here - not a world beater Paul Deacon but 80 mins on the field in Super League he was a credit to your team and any Club in Super League would have had him as a goal kicker - one of the best ever - I dont know how many points he scored for you lot but I would guess it was a fair few. Hope he keeps fit at Wigan

| No appologies for transferering this from a much prior thread to this one that is more appropriate
A lot will now be said about Deac's career with the Bulls but my over-riding memory was the fans confidence we had in his kicking. It surely put the frighteners on opposition and gave great confidence to his team mates.
Maybe someone could add to previuos years stats for Deacs. Here is what I know
2003 158 attempts 80% success
2004 154 attempts 79% success
2005 188 attempts 75% success
2006 132 attempts 76% success
2007 118 attempts 83% success
2008 71 attempts 85% success
2009 112 attempts 80% success
7 year average of 80%...Awesome!
Anyone recall, as I do, games where his kicking won us the game?

| Thanks for your efforts Deacs, i've got to say he's up thier with some of the great Northern/Bulls players.
How ironic it is for one of the games greats going off to while out his senior playing years at Wigan, they used to come our way!
All the best Deacs, but not against us!

| All the best Deacs!
Great servant to the club, I'm sure he'll get a good reception back at Odsal in March...

1589.jpg when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.:1589.jpg |

| He will probably get a better reception than he was used to when he was wearing a Bradford shirt!
Some players go mostly un-recognised even when they make a huge contribution. I think Deacs comes under that category. I hope we can let him know that in March.

| I hope we can give him a proper send off like we did with Danny Peacock, Robbie Paul, etc.
He hasn't had a proper goodbye from the club really.

| Deacs has been a great servant to the club but as George Harrison once said all things must pass (although I always rated his passing).
The Paul Deacon ladies night by all accounts was a memorable occasion but I feel in making such a sudden announcement the club are missing out on an opportunity for a men's night for us to say goodbye. Perhaps a Paul Deacon lady-boys night would be a suitable compromise for the club - perhaps run jointly with Wigan and featuring former Bulls ace Stuart Fielden?

| Top player, who I thought was very underated. A few years back when he was playing for GB (the games leading up to his face injury), I really thought he was becoming a class act, he began to take the line on more and was causing a few problems.
Wasn't really the same in recent years...but still knows how to steer a team around the park and as tough as nails. Goes with my best wishes.

| As a Wigan fan of many years I'm glad to welcome Paul back to Wigan. He has been a tremendous servant not only to Bradford but to Rugby League, the consummate professional and the proverbial thorn in our (Wigans) side.
He is a player you only hear good things about, in his playing, training and off field activities. There will be no Sean long, Bobby Goulding type episodes in his book if he ever writes one.
The two young Wigan halfbacks Tomkins and Mellor should be delighted to be coached by him. Follow his ways and they will be all the better for it.
To end, Deacon should be held in the same esteem as Kris Radlinski. and there can be no better accolade than that.

| He's been good for Bradford, but Bradford have been good to him. He's benefited from having great players around him, but is undoubtedly talented. He was given too much responsibilty on a dieing team. He hasn't been the same since his facial injury v NZ at Huddersfield.
My favourite player growing up as a Bradford supporter, I really respect him as he's played in a key position in each of our GF victories, in the modern era not many players have shown such loyalty whereby they have played 10 years at one club.
Thanks for everything Deacs!
