| Some errors and penalties maybe but the recent loss of forwards meant we could not handle their bigger pack. The ref's failure to penalise Widnes at the ruck was abvsmal. Pack is an issue.

A contributing factor perhaps, but how many times did we hand the ball to Widnes in our own half with really dumb plays? Credit to Widnes, they took their opportunities but it was really poor stuff.
Interesting dilemma re Blackmore, he was absolutely shocking and whilst you cannot blame an entire result on one player.. his mistakes were massive to the outcome. If he avoids being dropped it can only be due to some credit from previous weeks when he has been very good.

| Quote RagingBull="RagingBull"Weve lost 4 forwards in just over a week with only 1 coming in and he hasnt played for at least a month. Throw in a suspension we are really really light in the pack. Fairly obvious whats coming.
At least 1more middle and a second row needed urgently, and are on their way all being well.'"
Sadly this came back to haunt us last night. 2 many forwards missing. Boddies needed urgently.

You could have the best pack in the world but if you have players not dealing with very ordinary kicks, falling asleep in defence and trying ridiculous offloads on your own tryline it is always going to be a tough night.
We had enough quality out there to get a result last night but we played dumb rugby and slipped back into old habits of trying to take shortcuts against a determined Widnes side. Just one of those really frustrating nights where you'd back any side in the Championship to beat us playing like that.
Results like that make top 4 aims look very unrealistic now, we are fighting to stay in the top 6 now instead.

| Despite this being an unpredictable league and almost everyone being able to beat anyone on their day it's clear that we don't yet have the consistency to be a serious top four team, never mind anything else. The old faults of overplaying, making errors, compounding them with penalties and then overplaying to make up for it causing everything over again reared its head again.

| If we'd scored again at 12-6 I have no doubt we would have cut loose. The sheer effort that took to lose that game is staggering. It needed sustained brainfarts to achieve.

| Generally the forwards played ok, the backs had a nightmare. All the dropped balls and errors, few teams could recover from that.

| Deja vu from the York game where it's took some effort for us to lose the game. As Greenwood said, don't think we went more than 3 minutes without doing something ridiculous.
I know it's hard to single players out from that performance, but was really disappointed with Foster. He was constantly struggling to get back in the line and looked to be blowing all game. Falling off tackles including one where he'd just come back on.

| The pack of a few weeks ago would have matched the Widnes 6. Outcome would have been different. The forwards gave 100% but outsized. The club knows what's needed.

Spot on.
Weak down the middle and addition to all the errors and we had no chance. An of the other play off teams would have put 60 on us. It was only the fact Widnes are so poor that we remained in the game for so long.

| Thought Gaskell was shocking last night. Defensively that is. Does not need to go high all the time.
Thought the entire back line was crap other than Gill.
Wynne had a shocker. Think he only made yards on two occasions. Sooner Holmes is back the better.
Patton I thought went well. Segeyaro had an usual game with poor distribution.
Thought Baitieri looked solid and will get better. Pretty much a like for like with Thompson.
Thought Lilley and Scurr were the best players we had last night.

| Rumour has it we could lose Lawford. Superleague clubs showing interest. Let's try and keep this one. We don't want another Wilson Trueman, Flanagan Jr scenario.
