| Quote: bullinenemyland "At the moment we aren't playing full stop. However, Odsal is still home and that is where I think we will continue to play should we get out of this awful mess.
Long term however, I think Lawn has the right idea. All it takes is someone with some ambition and cash and they could make something really big at Odsal.
Sell the existing bowl for landfill (agreement needed by the council), use the money to build a community stadium on the land where Richard Dunn's currently sits (nothing flash... 10k capacity max) , expand to include hotel and other retail/leisure units, use money left from sale of Odsal and other builds to re-invest back into Bradford Council and everyone's a winner.
I cannot see a reason why with some blood and guts it cannot be done.'"
This is ideal solution imo. I'd go further and have its as a gound share with park avenue on the richard dunn site. Funds raised from selling off odsal and horsfall would easily cover a 10k stadium, with provision built in for future expansion, and leave a sizeable chunk left over for council to help with their budgets too. Both clubs have support bases that draw largely from south side of city. Could even merge in new swimming pool planned for sedbergh site and sell that off too. would be more cost effective running and managing everything on one site then split over 3 as currently.

| Quote: Bullmans Parade "Although a very logical solution, my issue with it is this
Build new stadium on all weather pitches portion of richard dunn site and demolish Richard dunn moving demolition waste onto current car parks. then when stadium ready use the demolition waste to infill odsal. That would go a fir way to filling odsal as land fill and reduce costs of transporting the waste to alternative land fil. Pretty certain odsal would only be in use as landfill for a couple of years and then it would be developed for logistics with a link road directly offf m606.

| After the super impressive stand building exploits of Featherstone fans, shall we have a go at doing this ourselves.
I could get a fair bit of the Richard Dunn in the back of the Volvo.

I would hope something in the district could be arranged.
Much depends on where we are, financially, league, losing points and players etc. Unless we can pretty much re-boot what we've got nlikely, I'd say], then Odsal isn't going to be anything like viable and I do have some sympathy with those who suggest that, as things stand with leases etc, Odsal isn't viable full stop.
If we end up as a part time, league 1 club, then Horsfall wouldn't be quite a disaster for a season. When you look at the sort of grounds used by Sheffield and London then Horsfall wouldn't have any bother getting a licence in that division. I doubt we'd have[i that[/i many fans either, in that division tbh.
Too many ifs, buts and don't knows, to be have any real idea. We need to know where we'll be, as a club, to come to any conclusions.

After being part of project management teams involved in the planning, building and operating close to £35m worth of sports facilities, I could throw my hat into the ring and get involved too.
I prefer to be more strategic operational than hands on construction though... just saying!!!

| You lads should get together, in a quiet pub if need be, and toss this ball around. If you can come up with, say two or three, viable amalgams of some of the ideas posted, then you organise a public meeting and encourage as many as possible to attend, invite the media (local, regional and national), the local MPs, the Council and as many other interested parties as possible. Bradford has a great fan base still. Make its voice heard. All politicos are chasing votes.
Leigh is a town rather than a city, smaller fan base, but with the move to a modern ground and the resulting interest of St Derek, phoenixes can rise from the flames.
Leigh were part-timers but are no longer. Super League next season. Derek (never met him so pretend no affiliation) is an owner who seems to really care for the club. The lack of owners at Bradford over the last few years that can genuinely tick that box is the main thing that holds the club back. Ignore the next deus ex machina and establish a community (council, business and fans) oriented club. Then all decisions are made in the interests of the collective.
There's an Association Football club in Catalunia of which Bongser has heard tell. They seem to be going quite well...

| Don't forget, if Bradford Council gets back the unencumbered freehold of Odsal due to ongoing events and then sells it, it would need to use some or all of the proceeds to fund the building of TWO new community stadia in the District, not one:
1 that Bradford Bulls/Northern could use, at either Horsfall or the Richard Dunn site and
2 in the Keighley area, that Cougars could use (either at the existing Lawkholme Lane/Cougar Park site {including the relocation of Keighley Cricket Club to the Keighley RUFC site} or at Belton Road, Silsden)

| whatever is needed will be irrelevant to weasel politicians. Craven District Council are throwing building money at turning the town hall into an entertainment venue whilst withdrawing their grant towards Settle Victoria Hall running costs, likewise Settle Swimming Pool built by donations has had its grant withdrawn whilst money gets ploughed into the swimming and leisure facilities in Skipton. Thats why Shipley Council built the Shipley pool as soon as they knew they were about to be turned into Bradford Met.

| is there an anywhere but Odsal option? A rubbish dump however many years ago and still one today. The black hole into which any owners aspirations disappear.

Whilst I agree, are there actually Any realistic alternatives in the short or medium term? New stadium is not going to happen, Horsfall would be an admission of permanent residence in the lower leagues, out of the city wouldn't carry enough fans with it, and in the city vp is the only option, which might cost us more than odsal. I've no idea of the exact costs involved with odsal compared to vp.
If odsal shut tomorrow, vp is the only option. I'd be fine with vp (pitch length issues to be sorted) if we had a genuine groundshare with equal input and not just a barely tolerated tennant. But I don't see that happening, except maybe if lawn is the new owner.

Lawn was quoted last week saying when he wanted a ground share in his City days, it was in a new stadium built at the Odsal site, not at VP. So I suspect moving to VP isn't a likely option with him in charge either.

I think the whole situation has changed since those days. The simple truth is that if we're to stay in this division, or god forbid, even drop into league 1 then Odsal isn't going to be viable in the medium or long term - and with league1 option you can say short, medium or long term. We're just battered by freezing winds these days and the days when we had the choice are definitely numbered, imo.

| in an ideal world at odsal, with the lease owned by the new owner and investment coming in to develop...
We can but dream!!!!
LSV style grounds at Richard Dunnes and Horsfall or Sedgebergh would work as well!!!!
