I'm a bit baffled by it all to be honest. If Mr Green is a successful businessman then he hides it very well. He started last week's statement by saying that he's felt forced to say something about the future of the club and then wonders why fans have become disillusioned and stay away?

I just don't get it? I this was my business and damaging rumours were being spread then I would do my utmost to put a stop to them. Why? Because it is MY business and I'd want to keep my paying customers happy. If Mr. Green is of the opinion that he shouldn't have to keep justifying himself then he can't complain if his business suffers from it. Like I said, I just don't get it? Is all this beneath him? Is he bothered? Or has it gone too far for it to make a blind bit of difference?

The problem is though that it is not really his business. An ideal model would see sports club owners making a tidy profit but, in the real world, unless you are one of the top clubs in any sport, it really does not happen.

And, if the chairman WAS making a lot of coin from the club there would invariably be calls for them to spend more and buy more as they really should have the best interests of the club, and not themselves, at heart.

It is more an ego thing IMO.

There is two ways to look at this.

Green has to date always been upfront with the fans in so much to give an honest (often too honest) update on where he and the club are. It is not his position to provide a detailed update every day when rumours circulate, nor should he. He is running a business and as such he will make a judgement on when he should and should not provide the details that quite frankly don't need to be in the public domain.

Nothing I have seen or heard in the last few weeks has left me fearing the worst or feeling impending doom.

On the other hand, we have all been through this before. I as well as others have stuck by the owners and trusted them to do the best by the club and supporters. I firmly believe this has always been their intentions but in most occasions a lack of experience in the game has left them badly informed and out of their depth. Is it the case of no smoke without fire???

I do think it was very naive of Green/the club to not pre-arrange a statement following the Fev game, it was always bound to kick off the rumour mill and therefore I think a lot of what has gone on since has been as a direct result.

I wouldn't believe a single word Lockwood says. The man is a media menace. Some of the stuff he comes up with, particularly in the local non-sports rag is unbelievable and how he gets away with spouting off his own views of the world is crazy. Same can be said for Ross at the T&A who has an obvious chip considering he doesn't get his own way with the club as he used to. League Express however is a different matter and that is more of a concern than any other media release.

In the end, worrying won't matter one jot. Might as well relax, sit back and wait for it all to come out in the wash. Only thing I can guarantee is that if there is still a club in existence come next February, I will be there with my season ticket ready to support whoever takes to the field.

Why don't you buy the club then and pump all your own cash in... if that is in the best interest of the club???
