Thought he did well at Souths until the 'incident' and from what I hear he's doing fine at the Roosters with a good rep, obviously ambitious, young and previously successful. Where's the problem?

He may have had a previously succesful playing career, but as a coach, where is his success? In fact he's a failure to date. Failed at Parra - Failed at Souths - Failed to get a 1st team job for 2010

Daily Star says Jason Taylor is favourite to take the job, and Dave 'Nosey' Parker in The Sun says Brian McDermott is nailed on for the job. So we definatly know Brian McDermott wont be taking over the reigns.

I thought he got them in to the Playoffs for the first time in 7 years. Suppose it depends what you think failure is, but most Rabbitohs fans didn't think that was a failure.

Possibly, but if he was any good Souths wouldnt have cut him loose for getting smacked in the face.

So you're only measure of success is winning the title then? What an odd world view, where success is only measured by the pinnacle of achievement and everything else makes you 'pants'. I presume you're a let down to yourself then most of the time.

They said they hoped they would be in a position to make an announcement by the end of June, but emphasised they would not rush into a premature appointment or announcement.

Certainley not.
However, I don't see something that is rather expected as a success either. With the players Taylor had at his disposal in 2007 it was an expectation that SS reach the playoffs and would have been deemed a failure had Souths not reach the top 8, which they did, by the skin of their teeth. However, the two following years they failed miserabley to reach the top 8 and Taylor was subsequently sacked with Souths using the reason of Taylor having a drink and getting beaten up as a lever to send him on his way.

Now if you think that's a good rep and previously succesful then that's your call, I just hope the level of Peter Hoods ambition is higher that your own..
