Looked into that already. Trains range from 9hrs 14 mins to 20hrs 6 mins - and take your pick on the number of changes
I got the Penzance Edinburgh train on the way up, & the return as well. Went like a dream. You would have the advantage of an empty train at your end at least. Also you will be quite merry when the drunk Scottish squaddies get on with their 'music'.

A bit?? You had to stop for a rest halfway up!
Having been to both Cardiff and Edinburgh I think Cardiff slightly edges it for me, purely because of the stadium location, which made for a better atmosphere in the pubs around the stadium, however I did like the concourse of Murrayfield, even though it was fecking freezing when the sun went in.
Overall a thoroughly superb weekend. Definitely doing it again next year.

| Didn't go but had the shock of my life when the commentary said Macca had been suffering with flu all week. Does anyone else think he should have been tested for swine flu before entering a stadium packed with thousands of people? I'm not that keen with the idea of our team being infected either but on a positive note at least he would have to drop Platt then.

I'm still not convinced it's a good idea overall though. It's too expensive for a lot of fans and we were very lucky with the weather. That pitch would not have stood 7 games in the rain and the crowds would not have been anything like.
That just leaves you Wembley or Cardiff as the covered options and as I said the covered stadium was cold and dark.
Ok it's a good media opportunity but mid season internationals could surely do that.'"
When did they put a roof on Wembley?

Nope, they can't close the roof. The pitch will always be uncovered.

| From memory the new 6,350 tonne roof covers an area of over 45,000 square metres (11 acres), 4 acres (16,000 m2) of which are movable and rise to 52 m (170 ft) above the pitch. With a span of 317 m (1040 ft), the arch is the longest single span roof structure in the world and is 134 m (440 ft) above the level of the external concourse, and is designed not to cast a shadow on the pitch. Contrary to popular belief, the stadium's roof is not fully retractable, meaning it cannot cover the playing surface in inclement weather.

No, meaning nothing at all. 'Retracting ' means drawing back, i.e. opening. What they meant to say was it does not fully close, and so cannot cover . . . etc.

1589.jpg when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong.:1589.jpg |

| whatever
It's never going to be at Wembley anyway.
I just think that at this time of year it's just as likely to be heavy rain as sunshine and if you are unlucky you can have a pitch which cannot be played on for more than two or three matches in one weekend.
If you're ok with that risk then there are plenty of other stadia around.
