| Quote: Sensei-Bull "I'd agree if Mccrone was the stand off in the partnership. I wouldn't really expect Canberra to pair 2 scrum halves together especially when they have the rising star Michael Picker as a possible stand off partner for Orford.
I'm pretty certain they'll want to keep hold of Mccrone, but then again, we don't want to lose Orford so there may be some bargaining power.'"
suppose it depends how interchangeable you view the 2 halfback roles. A lot of people these days see them as pretty similar and my thinking was that canberra would prefer to only bring in 1 new half rather than an entirely new halves pairing. If they go that route then as you say mccrone could be surplus to requirements. at lest in short term - maybe its a case of them not wanting 2 inexperienced halfs on pitch together. in which case bringing in orford to partner picker makes sense. maybe option of a loan deal for a year for mccrone?. after all ideally we only want someone on 1-2 year deal to allow for southernwood coming into team.

As I understand, Mccrone is an organising scrum half, similar to Orford. I wondered if a loan deal would be an option. Would work for both parties as Orford doesn't have too many miles left so they'd need a replacement in the next year or 2, and it would be a stop gap for us while southernwood develops or it would give us time to line up a big name for next year.
Is be more than happy with that.

| Just wonder then in reply to an earlier poster which said something along the lines of 'Saints' silence is golden and they kept quiet when rumours of Graham to Wire were rife and this didnt happen' that they are keeping quiet because they cant deny Leon is coming home but dont want to announce until as late of possible so not to have an impact on their season ticket sales?

Bet'sy mate, there are hundreds, nay thousands of rumours each and every season, and if every club were to spend time denying each one individually, well they would have to forget all the usual sorts things that club employees are normally doing, because there are only 24 hours in a day they wouldn't have time to fit it all in.
The vast majority are hot air, someone's wishing and hoping, and a few people taking the mick, and of course, there is the odd one which will turn out to have some substance. It's amazing how much time rugby takes up during the summer, probably [inearly [/ias much as reading all the gossip and rumours through the winter.

| In the case of message board rumours like the Graham one I think you're right. In this case the T and A made a series of statements supported by 'sources close to the player' etc which elevated above the story above rumour status. Consequently, I agree with Bets that Saints silence is a lot more significant than simply 'not responding to rumours'. Their equivalent of Connor in St Helens will certainly have asked the question of the club and as of yet Saints have not scotched the story despite us all being in the 'season ticket season'.

Clearly you are clueless about Saints then. Saints never respond to rumours. Pryce himself might, just like James Graham eventually did over the Warrington rumour. But Saints never do.
Saints never say anything about anything. They are truly useless communicators.

This statement is so so true,Saints have never been the best communicators, anyway going back to the OP we will all have to wait and see.
Personally I don't think he is going anywhere but I could be wrong.

He's only played a couple of games this year (when Carney was sidelined) but I like what I saw of him and he's only 23.
Would be a good swap plus £££££ for Orford.
Carney hasn't played for Canberra for nearly 3 years!

So earlier, you told us that the rumour couldn't be true because Saints weren't saying anything about it.
