Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

Yes Mick, I know that. I was merely having a wee joke about your regular "scoops" that you claimed to know, that never quite materialised.
This is what happens when you set yourself up for a fall.

Who were the other 2 mentioned? I'd heard Hull were looking to reduce their cap to allow another signing, but I cant see us being able to afford Leons wage for this season.

Bosc hasn't gone out on loan? He's been in the Catalans side last couple of weeks?

From what i gather it's 2 very wealthy businessmen willing to fund Toronto. So it's not like it's the RFL funding it. No lose situation really. If it fails, then we as a sport haven't lost anything.
Shame we couldn't convince them to buy into the a team that won the WCC not so long a go
Hopefully them sharing our training facilities will reduce the cost for us in that area.

| We don't own the training facilities - we rent them. I hope that with Toronto coming on board it doesn't affect our access to them.

Said they're in discussion with us so presume we have a big say of whether they can use it and the arrangement with it. If they come as second tenants it could reduce the rent still (Same way Salfords rent of the stadium was reduced when Sale started using it)

| Some people have no vision.
the same people bang on about "expansion" and how crap we are at it; and how inbred and sporadic our "international" profile is.
Along comes Canada, and wants to give us that particular profile (a team entering the Championship) basically at their expense. Of course, that itself does create many hurdles to overcome but the only thing any of you should be asking is how will we overcome them. Such opportunities, both for the profile of the game and for expansion, are rare as hens' teeth.
All this thread shows me is that many who talk a good game about expansion are in fact scared to death of it. If the Canadians tried it, and it ended up being too problematical - so fscking what? We 100% should go for it, and I'm delighted that it seems the RFL are fully behind making it work.

I don't think people are "scared to death of it" I believe they are frightened of "change" something that takes you away from the norm.
We need to get away from the mentality of a promised land as such with Super League and get back to creating structure for the good of the game.We cant create that structure internally as SL takes precedence.Externally there are no boundaries to the game.
We just need to probably get on board with it and support as much as possible in order to not see chances like this go to waste/fail or the game just stays rooted.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

The problem is though that there are too many flat-cappers who keep trotting out the old "Northern Game for Northern People" rubbish. The very people who complain about Rugby League not getting enough coverage, have a deep suspicion of RU and its' worldwide popularity yet seem to be completely against anything that could help the game grow.
They cannot have it both ways really.

Think there was a discussion a few years ago along these lines.....I said then for both sports survival long term it isn't difficult to see a world with just "Rugby" i.e. no codes

Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.: |
|
| There was a good interview with those Canadian businessmen last year. I'll try to find it. Obviously they weren't going to put their entire business plan in the media but they came across well, had discussed the problems they could forsee & the solutions. They were very confident they had a market & audience for TGG in Toronto. I'd welcome it.
