| Get him signed up on a 1 year deal. Get rid of Langley (who is stealing a massive chunk of our salary cap quite frankly) and then move Morrison as assistant coach

Is he?
You obviously know the value of his package then - so care to share it with us so we can judge a bit more objectively?
Remember too that you have to reduce our salary cap by £50k if Langley was to go, so £50k of his package has no bearing on the salary cap. But you knew that, obviously.
Same way that you knew that the compo we would have to pay him would be spread across the salary cap years remaining on his contract, so THAT element of his package has no bearing on the salary cap either - except we would of course lose a chunk of our salary cap AND NO player.
But you must nevertheless know he gets paid so much and is so totally useless that these would be small prices to pay?

Never liked Kevin Costner, or any other Robbing Hood!!!!: |
|
| I actually think that we need somebody who is prepared to upset the applecart! Reading JP's book that's exactly what Greame Bradley did with the younger players in 96-98! it didnt do the likes of JP, Fielden, Pryce or Deacon any harm, did it? it toughens them up for a tough environment! when you are building a new team, you need an old head who is going to be uncompromising in every aspect.
NOt sure that this person is Morro though?!?

Why not? He's a guy who gives 100% and pushes himself through the pain barrier to achieve it.

| If Bradford are really looking to the future this would be a mistake IMO. Were Bradford that much of a better side when they had Morrison and Menzies? Probably not. What will they bring that they couldn't when they were here last? If Morrison had that much to offer, I'd imagine another club would have snapped him up by now.
Bringing either back smacks of desperation to me, just like the Jefferies signing did. But maybe you are that desperate. Even when returning players still have plenty of mileage left on the clock, they rarely fulfil expectations - Paul Sykes and Lee Smith being two recent examples.

Even at his current age, Menzies would improve any side in the league right now. Perhaps you haven't seen enough of him playing to realise just how good he is.
Morrison, on the other hand, was nothing more than a grafter imo. A decent one at that, but we shouldn't be bending over backwards to resign him and take up precious cap space. I'd much rather us utilise Olbison/Donaldson/Whitehead/Bateman. They are the future of the club, after all.

I rate Morrison and think we let him go to soon but I agree with this as far as getting him back now goes.

Get you! Have i touched a nerve. I haven't said i know what Langley is earning, but it doesn't take a genius to work out he's probbaly one of our highest eaners. He's our longest serving player. I would say Lynch, and possibly Kearney and L'estrange are earning more than him. He's been injured most of the season (yet again) and was an embarrssment on sunday. One injury too many for me.

| An embarrassment sunday! why?? The defence he put in was superb..yes he did one pass in the match but hes more a prop these days.
His ball handling skills are gone..he gets the ball passed and just runs at the markers to tire them out.
If thats what he gets told to do thats what he does.
He`s not there to push the team around the park, we havent got a loose that can do it..hes not a sinfield loose, not even a half and half like lockers..hes just another defender and a good one.
We could try briggs there to get us around the park and put sammut at 6 and gale 7..but then who would defend?
Elima/lynch and langers are our best three defenders, we may be losing lynch, to lose langers as well would leave everything on elimas shoulders...would you like to just defend all game and never attack..elima would get very quickly peeved off.

Not touched a nerve at all. You just made a statement without, I suspect, considering all the financial implications of what you were proposing. In particular, your statement
Quote: Bull Mania "Langley (who is stealing a massive chunk of our salary cap quite frankly)'"
Was surely a teeny bit OTT? Quite frankly...?

| someone told me Cas are looking to offer a 2 year deal about 100k plus. Personally think it might be too much of a risk. Yes he is good providing he's actually playing. We got more games out of him but he still had a decent spell on side lines.

I certainley hope we're not thinking of offering him 100k. That would be a ridiculous price to play for a injury prone 35 year old, over the hill player.
I would however love him on the coaching staff.

is that 100k a year or 100k over two years that cas are on about though? I'd have thought 50k a year is about right and wouldnt expect us to get morrison for less. Maybe a a one year playing/coaching role with the coaching role continuing after the 1 year playing deal finishes would be way for us to go.

| After the match last night Morrison seemed to indicate that he was staying at BV. I can't be certain though. Personally you can have him he's been great for us, he's a great player but he has struggled this year. I know we are a poor side but so are you at the moment. He is 35 and despite what someone on here suggested he hasn't got 20 good games a year left in him, more like two or three. Last night was an exception.
To be frank all he will be doing is stopping a younger British player getting a chance for a very short term gain. FWIW I feel Bradfords problems lay off the field. There is very little wrong with your squad that a good coaching set up and a happy club environment couldn't put right. McNamara is a coach of average ability, he was followed up by Potter a below average coach - what do you expect.
