On a side note, Greg Bird's appeal over here has been upheld, so he's potentially coming back to the NRL. It seems that Catalans two "targets" appear to be Chris "Walkout" Walker and Willie "Take that, Fielden!" Mason. If we can get them to take Walker, we can hope that the whole "legal procedings" threat might go away.

With all due respect to James Gordon and his fellow writers there, it seems like most of the news reported there is the same stuff that's already been reported elsewhere, slightly re-written. Most (if not all) of the content in that article is where we were at a few days ago, and the Orr quote about Kearney getting on the plane is definitely from last week.

Will they actually want Walkout? Catalans seem to be hoping against hope that none of the Aussies can out-bid them within the restrictions of the salary cap so they can keep Bird.

While Mason remains intent on finding a home in Japanese rugby union, Walker is understood to be open to playing in France. Walters, who spoke to Bird on Wednesday, hasn't given up hope of convincing Bird to return to the club.

To be honest I wouldn`t doubt that Orford would come. If we assume the worst outcome ie: that BOTH have legitimate contracts it would then leave the club with one more contracted overseas player than they could register with the RFL.
In that scenario I can`t really imagine that scrum half would be the position Macca would feel he could do without. To be fair it would be an expensive mistake however it worked out, and someone would clearly need to be paid out (or another club arranged), but whichever player wasn`t registered I can`t see it being Orford. |

It's not Orr's fault neither he or his client noticed that the contract hadn't been registered for 4 months!
Mind you it would be an easy mistake to make when you are travelling around every club in the NRL waving it under peoples noses to try and negotiate a contract. |
