I think we need a couple more forwards, ideally a prop.

Satisfied with Flanagan. Won't cost much. Can be a bit rocks or diamonds. He won us games single handedly last year, and some he was hopeless.

I think early on, Patton & Doyle will be the interchange hookers, but Flanagan will definitely need to be called on when injuries take thier hold.

Quote: Bullseye "Kibula has always struck me as a forward that doesn't do long periods. We definitely need another prop, even if Scurr stays.'"

True, but with my god we were crying out for someone like Kibula against Batley. Crossley, Baldwinson & Evans are the workhorses and can do long minutes. The likes of Scurr (if he stays) and Kibula can give us some much needed punch and be "game breakers" that we lacked last year. Seem to remember Swinton using Kibula to great effect as a wider running back-rower running at our HBs.

Agree we need more forwards. Sam Scott could be a shrewd buy, York fans seemed to really rate him. If Fleming & Scurr do sign that gives us 7 props so we do need one or two more, especially if we are going to be using the 13 as an additional prop.

Sure they'll be one or two out of the blue signings to come.

To be fair when Kibula played against us for Swinton I didn’t actually see him go off until 65th minute

Ha ha his comments about repaying the club's faith in him is an exact copy of what he said last year after his ban.

Fair play though he's a well worth the 1 year deal IMO.

Agreed. With the reduction in TV money there are likely to be a few old stagers leaving Superleague clubs looking for a part time gig to go with their new careers.

That's exactly the sort of player we need IMO.

3 backrowers and another hooker for me unless we're going Lilley to dummy half where I think he'd blossom.

We don't offer enough running threat around the ruck or on the edge. Doyle + Flanagan and Murphy + England isn't promotion level, whilst all of them would be excellent squad members with only Doyle a deffo 1st 17 starter in my view.

I think England would be an automatic 13 starter never mind 17. He would have been my player of the year. Never has a bad game.

This year definitely. But doesn't break the line or score enough.

I think he has scored a try in every 4 games he has played this season which is not bad for a 2nd row and makes a lot of metres and line breaks. Would be interested to see his stats.

Not far wrong with the games to tries ratio! 18 apps and 4 tries. To be fair we’ve had some belting second rowers who were scoring 10 plus a season or at least 7ish. So we’ve been blessed really.

England for me has been our best back rower. Play with a little more strike and England will benefit massively. But both him and Murphy are solid in defence.

So far I’d go with:

Hall
Kear
Gill
R. Evans
Foggin-Johnston
Brough
Patton
Crossley
Doyle
Walker
England
Murphy
Baldwinson

Lilley/Flanagan
B. Evans
Kibula
Scurr or a back like Myers?

OK, it's mid October and that is a definitely a step forward so lots of time to sign players. BUT that side would not beat Fev in a big game. DFG, Murphy, Flanagan, should be squad nos 20, 21, 22 and we've no real idea of what Kibula brings. Don't get me wrong, Patton is top signing, Hall, Gill, Kear, Myers all bring optimism. We're at least 4 forwards and a winger short, of the standard of player we've already signed, to compete seriously for promotion. Happy to see England get a shot with better options around him but we don't quite have them as yet.

Completely agree. That team is pretty much every player we have signed up. I’m sure we will continue to strengthen. Kibula has good pedigree and played at some good clubs and did well at Swinton.

Agree we are 4 forwards short and a winger. I’d even say two good wingers so Kear can cover for Hall at FB. I’d honestly sign up Dawson-Jones for another year.
