| Fev did well at Toulouse. Even without their duel reg they'll be tough next week.

| Another game that was painful to watch. You can hear the exasperation from people around you in the crowd. I am convinced that we focus solely on our defence during our training sessions and don't bother worrying about attack. This can be the only reason for the continued shambolic efforts we put in with ball in hand.
Starting a set in our own half and it will be five drives, or five individual efforts and then a kick, every time. Nobody supports the ball runner in anticipation of an offload, they just stand and watch as the next bloke drives it in with his head down. The two tries that Grant scored were probably some of the softest tries Dewsbury will concede all year, literally just passed along the line until we squeezed in at the corner.
We have our most potent attacking threat in Jake Webster over on our left stood with his hands on his hips most of the match because our players are obsessed with passing right every time instead of left. The one time Jake got a decent pass he put DFJ in the clear, a faster winger (Ryan) would have scored from it.
I made a joke when we signed Webster that he'd never see any ball because of the way we play and here we are. Most of the time Jake has to come in field looking for the ball and ends up driving it in towards the opposition pack - what a complete waste of his energy.
We are missing Chisholm and Keyes big time, the latter most definitely. Lilley just isn't good enough. He tries hard but it's just not enough.

| It must be that we don’t do much practice when it comes to attack because we seem to lack any idea. We had two young and experienced halfbacks out there today and a makeshift fullback so that’s going to have an impact but even so we look very lacking in ideas at times. We’re not getting the best out of our players.
Reading between the lines of Kear’s post match interview I’d be surprised to see Keyes back this season, if ever. Chisholm being allowed to go on his jollies seems to suggest he’s not in the coach’s plans either.

| Agree with Nothus about our attack. I thought we started off well enough with some decent shape but once Evans went off we just seemed to pass it down the line and all running in the same direction. But to be fair to Kear I don't think he'll have had to cope with as many changes in the back line in his career. Mainly forced due to injury and performances etc
I dread to think the amount of different combos we've had for our spine. Even in the back line we've struggled for consistency there. Can't be easy having different players inside/outside you every week. Having to put your 13 in at centre is bound to disrupt things.
We're winning ugly which we've not been able to do for a good number of years. I quite enjoy how good we are at defending out defensive line. The attack does need to be more slick, hopefully this will come with some consistency to our spine.
Also agree with Bullseye about Keyes. From listening to Kear I'd be very surprised if we saw him again this year and unfortunately it sounds a real possibility of being a career ending issue.

| I find it quite concerning just how satisfied JK appeared to be with yesterday's performance. Hopefully that was just press conference talk and behind the scenes he knows that we're nowhere near as cohesive as we should be.
The injuries have definitely hindered us, there's no denying that. I was genuinely optimistic at the start of the season because I thought then - and still do now - that on paper we have a decent squad, and if we had everybody fit and available for selection then we could name a very competitive 17.
Unfortunately we've never been able to do that and now JK is saying that Joe Keyes is 'nowhere near' coming back, it doesn't look like we'll EVER be able to name our strongest 17 and that is a real shame.
My main worry from all of this is that we're going to end up signing Jordan Lilley permanently. I can see it coming a mile off. The club will make a huge song and dance about the announcement and I'll just be sat with my head in my hands.

| Lilley’s still pretty inexperienced himself. I wouldn’t be too disappointed if we signed him as his best years are ahead of him. The issues he has are fix-able. For me he needs to take on the defence more and stop the ineffective cross field running when he has ball in hand. He also needs to come up with some better ends to sets. He’s good at kicking into touch but not seem evidence of much else that builds pressure.

| Looking back at the post game press conference and also listening to Kear first hand in the Southbank after the game, I'm stunned that he was pleased with what he saw yesterday. We made very hard work of what should have been a simple win against a very ordinary Dewsbury side. I still think we play too negatively for this league and need to allow the players to express themselves more in attack. Doesn't matter what players we have back in the squad after injury, we will still play the
I agree we looked better organised but think some of the criticism on here of Lilley is a bit unfair. The lad looked to be struggling for match fitness yesterday but earlier in the season has looked one of our better more reliable players and I'd be quite happy with him playing rather than a "can't be d" half fit Chisholm who has zero commitment to the club or being a professional for that matter (last seasons jaunt down to London to watch the AJ fight the night before a match, or asking for time off to attend a wedding says everything!!!).

To be fair, I thought he did pretty well. Finished his try strongly, and put Grant in for a try as well. Decent effort for someone who, as you say, practised all week to be playing at loose forward!

Oh definitely I though Minchella did well, but its got to effect the way we attack when you a replace Minchella, who's a ball playing LF, with Hallas who is a grafter.

I agree.
Like I said he and Milnes especially are quite inexperienced but have a lot of improvement in them.
Like you I would like to see us be a bit more expansive. It was typical that the one time we strung some offloads together yesterday we scored (Grant’s 2nd try). We could be doing that a bit more.

| Only 3 sides have scored less points than us : Batley, Barrow and Rochdale. On the flip side, only 5 sides have conceded less: Toronto, Toulouse, York and Widnes.
We need to find a way of upping the intensity in attack. Too many players taking a pass whilst standing still and having to catch a pass above their heads. We seem to flick a switch for the Minchella try and moved the ball quickly along the line to create the space to score.

Think if we offloaded a bit more we'd create more space. Usually you can count the offloads on the fingers on one hand. They even take the players by surprise when it happens.

I think we'll be higher in the "attack" league once we've played Barrow and Rochdale
Agree about offloads. Crossley in particular has a real good offload game. Need to see more of it.

| Lilley is a good player. We've had plenty of disruption in the side. A settled pack and 3/4 line will bring the best out in Lilley and Milnes. We're getting there now I think. I reckon going forward they will be our best options of the four half backs we have. It's going to have left and right sided kick options as well.
