A similar line was trotted out previously when we linked up with a club. I can't recall whether it was our dual reg with Hunslet or our close ties with Leeds. But I'd love to hear this vision that they seem happy to share with other clubs but not their own flippin supporters. I am rapidly getting to the point where I say.. I'm out. I have plenty of other things to occupy my time and money.

Everyone suggesting Greg Burke and Aaron Heremaia really don't get how dual registration works - we'll get fringe players and youngsters, not guys in the Widnes starting 17!
I'd seen them a couple of times and noticed Heremaia didn't play. Didn't realise he was injured, although that makes sense I suppose as he's a very good player.
I do realise how dual reg works. Some clubs use it to play anyone that's not getting a game (Leeds, Wakefield), not just youngsters, although it was supposedly put in place for the younger players.

2019 is the cut off for me. Its about ticking boxes off each year to get to a stage where we can challenege for SL again. Aim is to survive this year and lets say we do, we'll be receiving £150k-£200k funding again. To fund a full time squad, an academy (which is more important to me than DR as much as i hate it) the owner Will be looking at putting at least a million into the club out of is own pocket.
Next year we will start on zero and can make a push for the top 4 but with limited funds, we will have to find other ways of putting together a competitive squad.

| Sheffield dual reg with Leigh but haven't had any Leigh players for last 6 or 7 games
Sheff get told which players are available and its up to them who they choose if any. They are not told they must take so and so

Bull Mania, that is probably the best longer term view I have read for a while. Yesterday there seemed to be a bit of a glut of doom and gloom and I understand why.
It is important that we stay focused on what we need to achieve this year and that is so simple - survive by any means we can.
The problem is we made such a good start and then plateaued and this now feels like we are going backwards which is spooking the fans. We dearly need some positive news again to give everyone a lift.
Widnes may be at the bottom of SL but they may still have 2-3 decent players that can help us out and I will take that. I still haven't given up hope of Lilley and some of the others coming back.

I think it's fair to say, that we made such a good start on the back of a number of decent loan players and some inspired form from the 'young guns', who have let no-one down.
We [iare[/i back to the start though, in two ways; firstly we've lost the bulk of loanees who did us so well and secondly, we're seriously at, or even beyond, the point where some of the youngsters have done their bit and, for their own well being, need a break from first team action. The dual reg with Widnes might be a godsesnd for us, if it only works out 'averagely' well it should still be worthwhile. Any of the original loan players coming back would be a bonus, but 'blessed is he who doth not expect', fort he shall not be disappointed.

Lol, the 17th chapter of the book of Jobe.
Not being a god botherer, I'm far from sure that the book actually exists tbh, however, many years ago (though it feels more like lifetimes ago), when I first started at work, as an apprentoid in the textile engineering industry, a bloke, nearly as old as I am now, used to repeat the mantra of the 17th chapter, ad nauseum. It does have the ring of truth though!

| This is more like it, please forgive the thread drift...
17 1 My spirit is broken,
my days are cut short,
the grave awaits me.
2 Surely mockers surround me;
my eyes must dwell on their hostility.
3 “Give me, O God, the pledge you demand.
Who else will put up security for me?
4 You have closed their minds to understanding;
therefore you will not let them triumph.
5 If anyone denounces their friends for reward,
the eyes of their children will fail.
6 “God has made me a byword to everyone,
a man in whose face people spit.
7 My eyes have grown dim with grief;
my whole frame is but a shadow.
8 The upright are appalled at this;
the innocent are aroused against the ungodly.
9 Nevertheless, the righteous will hold to their ways,
and those with clean hands will grow stronger.
10 “But come on, all of you, try again!
I will not find a wise man among you.
11 My days have passed, my plans are shattered.
Yet the desires of my heart
12 turn night into day;
in the face of the darkness light is near.
13 If the only home I hope for is the grave,
if I spread out my bed in the realm of darkness,
14 if I say to corruption, ‘You are my father,’
and to the worm, ‘My mother’ or ‘My sister,’
15 where then is my hope—
who can see any hope for me?
16 Will it go down to the gates of death?
Will we descend together into the dust?”

Thanks for rooting that out...now I feel even worse!

| For bulls fans this is more accurate...
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Translation - No matter how low you get, you'll still head to Odsal next home game...
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted. Translation - Keep weeping you lot, Nige has a plan for you.....
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth. Translation - Try as you might, "cloth cutting" and "no longer a big club" will follow you all the days of your life
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied. Translation - The RFL will sort you a new Stadium, honest! Your their pets.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy. Translation - No mercy for you lot though
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God. Translation - Don't follow Caisley with blind faith, Harris is so far removed from God it's no longer funny.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God. Translation - Crap on about starting in CH1 all you want... Your stayed in the Championship... the RFL love you and you get away with murder!!!
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Translation - Half of you are Halifax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| OK if we are doing poetry, then here's one to lift your mood.
rlRichard Coryrl
By Edwin Arlington Robinson
Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.
And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.
And he was rich - yes, richer than a king -
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.
So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.
