| Will be voting for my local Labour candidate and not for JC (he's not the messiah, just the hipsters' choice and a massive #*?!).
For anyone disappointed on June 8th, don't worry, we can cheer ourselves up at home to Fev on the Sunday...

What are people voting for? Most people won't have much clue about his policies, only what they read in the right-wing gutter press. Not that they have had to spin much, he is never there arguing his point. I heard him this morning trying to sound passionate for the first time. It just doesn't work, it's not his style. He is no doubt a committed local politician but as a leader & inspiration he is anonymous. May is equally vacuous, but with a hidden nasty side, but she has the press spinning her perverted message for her.

Hit the nail on the head with the last bit I think!

| Quote: Bull Mania "Can't bring myself to vote for Corbyn and Labour who have become a party for know it all activists who paint pretty posters, get excited at going on a protest march, failed at life, blame everyone else for it, but provide no real answers to the problems
Not from me. I am from a labour voting family but have worked and paid my way all of my life and can't stand the way people expect to be given things for nothing and blame everyone else for everything. I was brought up to look after myself and stand on my own two feet. That's why I can't vote labour - along with the unelectable team of people they have - although I did vote for them in the past. Massive shame Smith died. Five people from my family have needed very important operations in the last two years and have received excellent treatment from our excellent but over-run NHS. Any party that describes it as a "third world" service will not get my vote. Just stop the third of people going to A and E who shouldn't be going - that will help solve the problem. Throwing money at problems doesn't always help - solve the basic problems first.
As far as Brexit, unfortunately it is all about Brexit when it should be about many other things. We are leaving and all I want is for the government to get on with it. And, for me, leaving really did mean leave completely. That was clear to me from day one. Time for breakfast now. I don't know whether to have a soft breakfast or a hard breakfast. Maybe I should ask a politician.

And I hope I see the day when the young take back their future and vote back into the EU. This whole, 'it's done, get over it snowflake, it's democracy' is rubbish and the very antithesis of democracy. But still we got rid of those elitist t055ers didn't we? FFS!
And FA...all those times I've driven through there and not counted... It's gonna keep me awake at night now... Though Six Lane Ends is in Liversedge, we'd need a new name to avoid confusion...Or we could build a new fake lane onto it and call it 7 lane ends?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that's better....'"
My two nieces played hell about the result of the referendum. It then came out in conversation that neither of them voted.
I proceeded to bollock them both for being too bloody bone idle and should shut up complaining about people who did vote and in future they should vote for what they believe in.
I work with younger people and find this attitude far too much. They need to put their phones down and do something about what they believe in - just like the older ones do. Everyone must vote but then abide by the result. Spitting out dummies doesn't work. We don't all agree so we go along with the majority and complain about it over a pint and scratchings.

True, and they will learn but if people don't continually whine, p155 and spit dummies about stuff they don't like (a la Farage) then the ruling classes will do just what they want more than they do now. Just accepting is like saying 'Fev are a better team that us, lets just let them get on with it and take a beating' ... oh ... wait.....

Genuine question - I challenged a couple of friends on this who were unable to come up with a valid reason. I think a lot of people base their views on what they read in the press but don't have any real substance behind it.'"
1. It wouldn''t be him running the country, it would be the looney far left political activists ruling.
2. They're not providing any solutions, just trotting out the same "hate the rich line" They have said they will increase funding for the NHS, schools, nationalise the railways etc. Brilliant i'm all for that. But as usual their sums don't add up. Their answer to the question of how they will pay for, that is tax the elite. The "elite" and "rich" make up a tiny proportion of the population and wouldn't bring anywhere near enough to fund what they are saying.

| My own view would be to bite the bullet and vote for whoever is most likely to beat the Conservatives. In my constituency we have the odious Philip Davies, and Labour are always nowhere near. I would vote Green or Lib Dems if they could somehow collaborate to unseat the slimy Tory Toad. And across the country the same, collaboration across the parties to stop the Jackbooted May from destroying this country.
My only hope lies with the youth. My daughter and her friends are eligible to vote this time for the first time ever, and they are all violently pro-Europe and anti-Tory, so get out there, mobilise, vote and get the Tories out....

| This isn’t like a normal general election because the result is already known in my opinion, and it represents a stepping stone to something else. The conservatives will win and with an increased majority. What this election (and the council one before it) is, is one of many adjustments taking place to reflect the civil war caused by the referendum. In itself the election will not serve to change the partisan nature of society in the slightest but I think it is a necessary step.
The LDs will not return to Cleggmania days instantly, but as the unashamedly and only UK wide voice of “the 48%” and the only centre ground in UK politics they will gain seats, and more importantly continue to give a voice to a vast swathe of the population who feel ignored or even vilified (Daily Mail headlines of example).
The election will also help develop a meaningful opposition to fill in the vacuum caused by the present lack of one. On June 9th Corbyn will either resign enabling the Party to pursue a centre-left agenda, or if he refuses, the party formally fractures with MPs choosing to form a centre-left party, or to join with the LDs. Either way, the strength of the moderate political centre will increase, from the level it is at now.
The demographics of EU support suggest that time is on the side of the political liberal or centre ground. I have the perhaps optimistic aspiration that by the time I’m 50 in 10 years time, we will have re-joined the EU. By then some of the silvertops will have buggered off to the little-England in the sky, enabling young people to pursue a less misty-eyed bat crazy agenda.

| If I'm still around in 10 years, and we are able to re-join, we can maybe have a sort of bonfire party to celebrate - and burn Nigel Farage instead of Guy Fawkes. If he's dead by then we'll have t make do with an effigy... (JOKE, btw - in case special branch are checking my mails..)
To be totally honest, I have doubts the French, Germans et al would welcome us back. In their position I'd be very cagey and demand a very hefty fee to let us re-join.

Just cancel the bonus £350m per week that the NHS received after Brexit was voted on. Simple.

| I hope for 2 things from the election
1. Labour are humiliated so bad that we never see hopeless Corbyn again
2. If Mr Farage stands, he finally becomes an MP.
i would love to go for a pint with Nigel, what a guy
