Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.: |
|
| Quote: roofaldo2 "
Now comes the tough 2 months as we play 3 of the current top 4 in a very short space of time. It's then a return match against Sheffield followed by London at home and I feel that they will likely have shaken off whatever malaise they are currently under by the time they visit Odsal.
Then it's time for a thrashing by the seaside as we play Hull KR in Blackpool. I'm not sure I see us getting ourselves up to 0 points before June without some additional firepower being added to the ranks in the shape of some more experienced heads in the forwards'"
The only thing which gives me some hope, is that, on form, we are currently a top4 side. Without our deduction, we would be 4th today, tied on 10 points.
It was the number 16 of Sheffield that punched Ethan when he was on the ground, nowhere near as bad as Flower, but similar position.
I was disappointed with Sheffield, they're the most ill-disciplined side we've played so far.

| In all fairness I think the scoreline flattered us, we were very hit and looked shaky at times,
Our defence was better as we held well after back to back to back sets..
-2 is god enough for me, I hope we can pull another win off at easter but its a big ask!
Getting through the period without any injuries will do.

Yes, I was thinking exactly this yesterday. On form, we are a top 4 side. We should believe we can match and beat other sides around us (if we were in 4th!)

| I believe we'd actually be 5th if not for the points deduction. Fax have got a better Points Difference than us, so would be in 4th.
Sam Scott (the Sheffield 16) was also the one guilty of a ridiculous swinging arm high tackle in the second half. The bloke came across as nothing but a thug, presumably filling the Mitchell Stringer sized gap that was left when the latter wobbled off to Dewsbury.

| I don't think scorelines often tell a true story, in many games the game is decided near te end when either one team or the other is beat and the other runs in some points. More often than not in recent years, that was us. This time round we are more resilient and it was great to be able to do that to someone else.
Sheffield were a lively side and took some beating. We spent long spells defendning but kept them at bay very well, and what I was most pleased about was how much steam we had left in the last quarter.
My worry is that our team isn't really our team, you neber know who'll be unavailable or leaving, andthere is a danger of disruption. But we can't do anything about that. Having said that its quite bizarre that on genuine form we are in the mix for being a top-4 side - we have exceeded all expectations in my eyes. We do play some good rugby, and in recent years that has not often been the case.

I'm in the same boat. Our best prop at the moment (by quite some way) is Dan Murray. Who could be recalled by Salford at any time. Kevin Larroyer too is playing very well, albeit overshadowed yesterday by our young superstar. Then you have Lilley who I think isn't getting the credit he deserves. His kicking game is head and shoulders above any of our other half options and whilst we don't often look like scoring on the last, we usually end up with some good territory.
Some of our "own" players are playing well at the moment. But take Murray, Larroyer & Lilley out of the side and it could easily slip down the hill a bit.
If we then lose Scott Moore to Her Majesty's Select XIII, then we could be tumbling even further.
It's perhaps in our interests that Salford & Cas continue to play well and continue to not pick up too many injuries. That way they may not need the players they've sent our way.

| Walking up to the ground yesterday, I had a good feeling we'd see a good performance and it was proven right, well done boys (right description for most). Must admit when I saw the line up with the right edge defense of Lilley, Ryan and Campbell, I was concerned that Yere and Lo would cause lots of problems, but it was our left side that looked hesitant with Caro looking exposed. Anyone know what was wrong with Lee Smith?

| There was a story on Facebook about some long standing fan who'd passed away. According to the story there was a problem fitting in a mention of him in the form of an announcement. Supporters took it on themselves to give a round of applause regardless.

I was told the "problem fitting in a mention" was that the club wanted a fee to do so. I don't know how much truth there is in it, so I took it with a small pinch of salt, but if it was true, that's pretty disappointing.
