Ah, you win.

| To be honest, I thought Siejka, rather than Sammut, was the man who might run across the line like Deacs but he doesn't seem to have quite got the hang of it yet - though I accept he's improved since his early games and shows some promise, just a shame the injury came when it did.
Alan Redfearn and Johnny Wolford, what wouldn't we give for either of those, Bak Diabira and Tommy Smales too. Different game and different coaches to be fair, though I've no doubts they could have adapted to the modern game.

| Thats what i suspect Bulliac, prob wont be back for a while now haha.
id like him back if it does turn out to be true, he maybe be a loose cannon but on his off days he still had an influence, Gaskell and Sammut running at defences from the line or dummy half would be something to see.

| If we had signed him, I don't see how he'd be playing for our rival team London this week on dual reg from Wakefield. And yet, he's in their 19 man squad.
So seems unlikely at this point.

| I don't think this has come out of nowhere. We need a half, Wakey have one who no matter what the results, the coach won't pick.
Wakey won't want to let him sign for us, we won't want to pay his full salary. In the meantime they can't sign anyone else as they don't have any fans and they're paying JS. Similarly, in the meantime we're playing Addy in the halves and look short of options off the bench.

Indeed, we would probably be helping Wakefield to strengthen their squad if they're intent on not playing him. I certainly don't see any great need to be offering much to Wakefield in term of compensation for releasing him from his contract. Whether we'd need to make room on our cap is open to debate, from the outside you'd think we might but in reality who knows.

| If he goes to London for the season he may still play against Wakey in the play-off's unless there is a rule stated that he can't. If I was Wakey I would state he can't play in any of the play-off's as points will be vital. But why would London take on such a key player to help them get into the top 4 and then lose him in those games. That doesn't make sense.
Interesting to hear one of the commentators last night say "it is the job of a scrum half to make everyone else do what he is thinking".
Maybe that is exactly what the problem is with Sammut. Nobody has a clue what he is thinking so they all stand around wondering what is about to happen.

Ha ha, never thought of it that way BB, but of course, you're right!
To be honest, I would have thought that, seeing as they clearly don't want him, taking him off their wages bill would be compensation enough. In any case, they only took him in the first place so he couldn't play for us last season. As for the cap, well yeah, I agree we really don't know, but we've got what - a full time squad of 31 players and a cap of just under £1m? Fair enough, a couple of those are juniors but evens so...Mind, there is still the rumour about one of the forwards leaving

| I see Jarrod Sammut as backup for Lee Gaskell. What if Lee gets injured? With Harry Siejka moving the team around the pitch, performing the role that Jimmy wants him to play, in the absence of Lee Gaskell Jarrod Sammut could cut defences to shreds. We can't afford to go into the 8's with star men injured and without a capable backup.
That's if we can afford Jarrod, of course, both in terms of our own budgets and the salary cap. And that is not information we are privy to.
