| That's my only negative too, to be honest. It'll be interesting to know who the vice is.

| I can just about stomach Walker being used as a prop, but he should not be anywhere near the starting 17 as a 2nd rower, loose forward or - god forbid - a centre.
Every year Walker has been at the club I've expected him to only be used as a backup, and every year he's ended up playing almost every game. I suppose it was silly of me to think that this year would be any different.

| I expect Walker to figure in the backrow most weeks then by the sound of it.
There's a lot of competition for places there. We need a few old heads on the field. I can see the rationale. I just wonder if he'll be good enough to warrant a place in the 13 every week on merit.

Not for me (see page 2), picking Chev seemed a fairly logical choice IMO. I think he'll represent the club well both on and off the pitch.

| Chev is being judged by his performance in SL - different situation and league so I will trust Jimmy's judgement on this

| Sensible decision. Allows the rest of the squad to concentrate on playing. Chevrolet is an experienced man and by all accounts a model professional.

Yeah, agree with that. I've said before that I fully expect the changes to be rung in the early qualifying games with a lot of rotations and not always the 'best' available 17 each week, though not necessarily against the likes of Leigh or London, of course.
Chev has played quite a lot of games, but hasn't often [if ever] put in a full 80 minute shift, he's also at the age where you do pick up the sort of 'niggles' which need a bit more rest than they do when you are younger, which is why I wonder who the vice is going to be. Still not announced, I notice.

| Strange one for me. Given our squad would expect Chev to spend more time off field than on even if a model professional. In SL never saw /heard encouragement from him as someone with captaincy potential.....

| There's an interview with Chev in today's T&A as well as comments from Jimmy regarding his selection as captain. The reasoning given seem sound enough to me so I'm happy to have Chev as captain and bring on 2015

| Well I didn't have Chev's name on a pretty short list of candidates because I was hoping rather than expecting him not to be in the team.
I know he's a good pro and helping coach the 16s but the fact remains he was truly woeful last season to the extent I was certain he'd retire.

Truly woeful...? Now I know Chev was a popular scapegoat but that's is completely OTT in my opinion. If Jimmy was looking for an experienced player who leaves everything out on the pitch and willing to put his body on the line then it would be hard to find a better candidate in our squad IMO.

| What if Chev is the fake Captain (e.g. Robbie Paul) and the vice captain will be the real one (Graeme Bradley - who incidentally is now 50 which melts my mind a little bit)?

| As long as he hasn't taken any tips from Gale's captain skills when the chips are down (stand behind post hands on hips staring at the grass ) and he can get them going when backs against the walls I have no problems. Will we he really be no the pitch that much though ??
