I fear for the game of Rugby League as a whole.

I don't think the quota can be staying at 1 for next year though in SL 2, London are already talking about signing two Aussie players for 2015.

Quote: Bulliac "It's always possible for a 'lower', or less well funded, team to get themselves worked into a frenzy over a 'one off' cup game, but even though this is perfectly true, how often, in recent history, has a lower league team beaten a fully pro side in any cup game? Even when the better team goes into the game with the wrong attitude, as Leeds clearly did - whatever the coach says - it truly is beyond being even rare.

For the lower league team to do that [and actually win as well] in a [ileague[/i format over eight games is patently ridiculous. Let's be honest, we can go back as far as we want, and if all those [very few] cup 'upsets' had been played over two legs they wouldn't have happened. RL isn't like soccer, we have a full goal line to defend, so we can't pack the goalmouth and hope for a lucky breakaway. The modern version of RL is probably even more unforgiving to the lower sides than it has ever been in the past.'"

Not to forget the fact that not one Player from the lower leagues are chosen at national or International levels.
Good post mate, it encapsulates what the true pundits of our game know to be true, sustained Giant killing just doesn't happen. One offs, where the underdog wins, are soon shut down, sorry about that Wakefield!
The Bulls had a couple of one off false Dawn's (not you Luke?) but we were quickly brought back to reality were we not?

I see London already signing players for next season which is why it is so important we appoint a coach and start to rebuild the squad for next season as soon as possible. The top championship clubs and seemingly London are already well down the track and we cannot afford to have a third off season where we don't or cannot recruit and end up taking whoever is left over.

Interesting post on the Broncos forum about a RL radio show that aired on Radio Manchester over the weekend.
Apparently Blake Solly answered a few questions, and the point about overseas/non-fed players in SL2 was raised and Blake's response was that the quota would be 5 players.

Here is the link to the show, questions are somewhere towards the end I believe (I haven't listened to it myself so not sure).

That though is entirely the point - lower division clubs [ialways[/i fancy their chances in cup games but there [iisn't[/i going to be a, challenge-cup like, one off match to decide promotion - big enough mountain as that would have been anyway, for the lower club. It's a mini-league competition, so they would need to be consistent through that.

I made this point last week we should have been prepairing months ago for the drop.

So they're thinking it will ACTUALLY be SL2. Same rules as Super league in every aspect except a lower salary cap.

NOT QUITE........

at the end of the mini league you could have the 4 SL teams in positions 1-4 in the league of 8 and the Champ teams in 5-8 but best placed Champ team in 5th, no matter how many points behind 4th still get to play in a sudden death one off game to decide who goes into SL the following season. So it is like a "cup" game, one bite at the cherry

If that is the case makes the mini league utterly pointless.

If Leon is available and would be happy to play Championship then I'm fairly sure he'd give us first refusal if we wanted him.

Seems like Fev going to make a big push for promotion by planning early. Hope our club starts acting now. Not overpaying for players at twilight of their career (like Monogjan) but signing our academy products, building the team round Mellor, Bates, Brook, O'brien.

Find out from our current squad who is willing to stay next year, then recruit players in their position.

Lets not wait till pre-season for half our props to jump ship. Lets ask them now and start planning.
