| Kear has that, 'backs to the wall' and 'everyone's against us' sort of attitude along with an apparent ability to get the very best out of his players, which reminds me a little of Peter Fox.
I still remember the team that Fox built from cast offs, old men and an old loose forward he stuck in the halves....individually they were never going to win anything but they'd run through brick walls for Foxy. To consider Kear in that company is high praise from me.

| I'd support appointing Kear or Noble tomorrow. I like FC, he's gone above and beyond for my club and we've had good moments whilst he's never had the team he needs on the park. But, some of the basic errors, fluctuating commitment, and the way we fold all too often to not just defeat but hammerings indicates serious problems. We're hurtling towards the trap door and to not at least try to change direction with some different coaching seems odd to me.
And if Mr Green cant afford to sack FC or afford to bring in some players I have to ask why he bought the club, as it was clear as day a level of investment was required from the new purchaser to have any hope of being competitive, just having enough cash to open the gates and bring in some loan signings is not good enough.....unless the plan was always to run the club solely within its (currently degraded) means without extra investment, meaning accepting straight away going down to a more affordable level. Which is a valid approach but not one we want to hear, but this is frustrating as Mr and Mrs Koucash probably wouldn't have had that approach and a Bradford bulls in SL next year with full enhanced sky money, proper off season season ticket sales etc would be easier to manage within its (more normal) means and just needed the new owner to bridge the gaps this year.
But either way, I would have expected a change in coach by this point given some of our performances even accepting the mitigating circumstances - appointing Noble or Kear after the Wigan or Catalan debarcles for example, would we be any worse off by seasons end? no, and we [imight [/ibe better off (far, far from guaranteed but worth a shot surely?), and when we do go down I can't see any reasons currently, beyond liking FC for his commitment for him to be given the job of getting us back up from what will be a cut throat league, a more experienced man will be required in IMHO.

| It's interesting that the side below us and the two sides above us have all dispensed with their head coaches this season, and we haven’t. It certainly says something – I’m not sure what though. Maybe the futility of the situation or the lack of cash?
Would we be the first side to go down in Super League who finished the season with the same coach who was in charge at the start?

| We brought in Sir Peter Fox when we were in this mess back in 1992. He saved the day but it was mightily close.
I'm not sure Noble or Kear have the same powers as the great man.

No you're right, im not sure either. However I know FC doesnt at this moment in time, so Id take the chance, however small, to do something different.

| This is a no-win situation. If we lose on Sunday, then we are pretty much relegated and any new manager would find it practically impossible to save us; whereas if we win, FC will stay, ensuring that we have our fill of lacklustre displays and out-of-position players for the rest of the season, leading to our probable relegation.

| I wonder if the heart is ruling the head when people talk about Kear and Noble. Batley are fighting relegation themselves. What we need is another version of Daryl Powel but where is he right now? Both Wigan and Salford let Noble go for whatever reason. I agree with the points about fluctuating performances under Franny but I still see a good future coach in Franny. Would we be letting the newly qualified person leave after putting up with his "apprenticeship" errors (under unprecedented pressure) only to see him make it elsewhere and then kicking ourselves for letting him go? Without the troubles could he blossom and grow his own team while in the championship so that he becomes experience at the same time as the team ready for SL again. Just a thought!
I am tempted to give him one year in the championship with the full cap and no off field nonsense. But, we MUST bring in a much stronger forward oriented assistant coach to help him and leave LSH to put the cones out. I would still ask Morrison to join him to bring the club up again. I fully expect this to be the first issue Green will tackle in the next few months.

Right, well good luck for next season then if Gale is your first choice half back.

| I can see both sides of the argument. On the one hand FC has presided over some utterly abject efforts with the Wigan debacle being the worst. Can he ensure that players show enough commitment? A few times we've looked less than bothered and lost games we could have won or shipped far too many points.
On the other hand he's had more adversity than any other coach in 50 years so maybe he deserves a chance to show what he can do with a bit of stability?
I think whoever does the job this year is almost doomed to see us relegated.

| What evidence does anyone have that Noble can get the best out of below average, under-performing players?

Its hard to define evidence....
But I would say taking Crusaders to the play offs was a good achievement.

None! Money bags wigan and Salford both off-loaded him, Crusaders he had a massive advantage wit the imports, us, he rode the back of all the good work one by Smith (and Elliot)
The man is a charlatan and certainly no better than our current boss, who I think has handled himself very well under the circumstances.
Players like Addy and Olbison have the odd good game, neither have really kicked on since their debuts.
