| If I'm being brutally honest, I don't think we'll miss him.
We have Gale/Sammut for kicking duties, and Platt/Kear are better wingers with more pace than Jamie.
It's a shame for him on a personal level as it won't help his chances of getting a new contract.

| Foster is as good as Platt or Kear on the wing IMO. He's got better core skills too. As I've said before though I think he'd be better used at fullback or centre.
A real shame about his injury as we're lacking cover in the backs with him and Blythe out.

| Shame, as I felt he was looking to come good. I still feel he should be offered an extension if only to provide cover and competition for the backs for next year.

| Not what we wanted at all is it. Shame for the lad and I hope the op goes well and he's soon back in contention.
It does leave us with fewer possibilities in the backs, though I guess we'll cope if we can avoid too many more injuries. Never thought I'd say it but I doubt we'll miss his kicking, the way Jarrod Sammutt is banging them over we look strong and Galey is a decent option too.

| Think he should still definitely be re-signed. That said not sure he would get in team when full squad available given we have two very good kickers who would start anyway. Not sure he's better than our other wing options if you take kicking out of the equation. Hopefully he's back before end of season.

| Well there's a story on the T&A website today about how he's been assured that this injury will not prejudiced him getting a new deal with the Bulls

| Shown he's worth a new deal already IMO. Not hit his best form yet, but still looks a great prospect and from his comments he clearly wants to be here too.
He's the type of player who'll encourage the youngsters to start coming back too.

| Its worth considering that Foster at 22 is the youngest of our regular backs by at least 2 years.
He has already shown that he will be a long term asset worth a longer term contract.
He should continue to improve his core skills (as Bullseye rightly points out he has) and more game time and experience over the next few years should see him at full back. perhaps, but I hope full back.

| Just to throw a curve ball in, with Pat Richards going back down under and Foster only being on a one year deal and living over the dark side of the Pennines, does anybody think he'll end up at Wigan?

Wouldnt rule it out as a possibility as wigan could definitely outbid us financially, although I'd hope the team spirit within our group of players would make him want to stay. Also he's come up through st helens youth system and would imagine the rivalry with wigan is pretty ingrained.

| Two thoughts here
Wigan will look for a goal kicker to replace the prolific Richards. And for a winger to replace him: these are not
mutually inclusive. Wigan's aspiration for a new winger will be for one that has much more pedigree than Foster
has at the moment.
Foster has had an unsettling career to date. After a great year at Saints in 2011 he was loaned out to Hull in 2012.
Perhaps the offer from the Bulls of a decent term contract might outsway a better financial package elsewhere?
He needs some security to develop his potential.

| For those reasons our offer could be financially better than Wigans
Didn't Matty Smith kick well for them a few weeks back and Charnley is a decent kicker too

| Plus with him playing for at Helens and living in st Helens he won't get as kuch grief from the bulls fans as he would from wigan, still don't think a lot are.sold on long yet due to the fact he was a hate figure during his time at saints
