| A bloke that stands near me does his shopping at Morrisons. I know this because he always brings his cans in a Morrisons carrier.
The stewards use the same bag to bin the empties after they've tipped them out.

I suppose it could be the same carrier but it would be a little far fetched for him to go and fish it out of the bin every other week just to save it. I don't know could be caring for the environment. I hope they recycle the empty cans.

To be scrupulously fair they have done the odd matchday thing in the past (is it my imagination or was there really once a sponge suited, black and yellow 'M' figure running around a few years back?) though whether this was a little bit by an individual store manager, rather than a head office initiative, I don't know. Anyway, I always thought it was that (alleged) Bull's fan, Sir Ken who was reluctant to put money into sponsorship, and he's gone now, so you never know.
Still not holding my breath...

| Some years ago I was at a marketing meeting where it was said that no national retailer would sponsor a single club which competed against other clubs who were themselves located in areas serviced by the retailer.
The premise being that there would be a considerable negativity in footfall to those stores.

I don't know of any major supermarket that sponsors a single club be it in RL or football, but that hasn't always been the case. Wigan did have Tesco on their jerseys not so long back.

It sounds sensible, almost incontrovertible you could say, but there are a number firms who sell their products all over the country and do sponsor a single (usually their local) team. Walkers crisps off the top of my head with Leicester City, HX building society sponsored HX RL, all be it through their insurance arm, Grattan Stadium, Britannia at Stoke City, even JCT who sponsored us whilst trying to sell cars in their Leeds base...there are many others too, and whilst I accept none are supermarkets I can't really see the difference, in that they are all big national companies who sponsor one team but expect to do business all over the place.
When you think about it, if you take that view to its logical conclusion, sponsoring any team should be a big no no for a business as it must alienate every other person who isn't a fan of the club being sponsored. Yet they still do it.

Isn`t that the reason both Glasgow Clubs Celtic and Rangers were always sponsored by the same company to stop opposing fans deserting the other clubs sponsor.

| Serious sponsorship in sports clubs now needs TV representation at a national level.
Let's say that a company in Bradford with little national recognition for its group name, has a projected turnover for this year of £3 BILLION, and wants to promote at least one of its 2 booming financial division names to the rest of the country.
For a reasonable price they might be offered the opportunity to do so by sponsoring the Bulls and gain SKY coverage for that division's brand name.
The corporate facilities offered to a company with almost 1,000 local employees would not go amiss.
This is of course entire speculation on my part.

Damart to not turnover anything like £3 Billion - That's £3,000,000,000 = A sh*t load of money.
