I am a bit surprised at those figures but intrigued
Hull is a white working class City , all our taxi drivers are white , to illustrate a point. The Culture is British sport. Hull and rovers between them average 20,000 home attendances , sometimes less , and then more etc
The last time I drove through Bradford I saw you had a massive 'Indian/Pakistani' population , and I know these guys are 100% British from generation etc BUT do you have a % proprtionate split on attendances ?
Before any PC do-gooders get on board , I am talking about cultural differences , I live in Australia and there is very little soccer going on , it's a Cultural thing , they love Aussie Rules and the Brits I know just aren't fussed about Aussie Rules.

| Not sure about the figures quoted earlier but these are more accurate:
Bradford 5th largest city/metropolitan district in the country: pop - 535,300
Hull 43rd - 263,900

Presumably the Bradford figures include sizeable towns such as Keighley, Bingley, Ilkley, Skipton, Silsden etc, as it is the metropolitan borough figures you are quoting, whereas Hull includes errr....Hull?

I'd assume that is correct, though I would have thought the City figure for Hull would have been a bit bigger, I'm sure it used to be more than that a few years back.

| For as long as I can remember Bradford has been classed as the 5th or 6th biggest city in England.

Heavens above! Who could possibly think from that wee parochial outburst you could be anything other than a well balanced individual?

Really? [i"We will accept the consequences of the errors of our previous BOD, and if that means the rules say you start back in the 3rd,.....so be it."

However that is nothing to do with Bradford, they have not been liquidated with debts of £ 137m, if they were liquidated they would start again at the bottom not seek dispensation for a new club to enter the top league. I don't think they will be liquidated and HMRC may do a deal if they believe they will get paid eventually.'"
Considered opinion, is that Bradford will indeed be liquidated, and that the newco will receive strong and sympathetic backing from fellow Super League Clubs and the RFL, with a view to keeping them in SL. As it should be. 10000 fans and the Club's past record should at least guarantee them a shot.
I'm sure you would agree that Super League would be a poorer place, if a small minded Parish pump attitude was allowed to flourish, and condemn The Bulls down into the Championship.......

I simply Googled 'population of Bradford' and 'population of Hull' for my figures
The figures above aren't comparing like with like. They put a Metropolitan district (which includes places such as Keighley, Skipton, Ilkley etc), alongside a 'City'.
Anyway its all a bit of a pointless debate. The more interesting question is why a place like Hull can support two SL teams and a Championship / Premiership level football team, and it seems like Bradford doesn't have the capacity to support a SL team or football team that can keep its head above water.

How many Championship/Premiership football teams and SL teams are there within 40 miles or 45 minutes of Bradford, and how many are there within 45 minutes of Hull?

Ilkley has a Leeds postcode, ergo it is in Leeds, as we all know.

I remember your holiday story. I went to an event in Huddersfield a few years back. A person, whose surname we shall pretend was Bailey, & is a senior director of a national engineering contractor with a similar name, preceded with a G&N but not necessarily in that order, who have their palacious offices in Ilkley, was a guest speaker. When someone asked him where they were based he said 'Just outside Harroagte'. Alledgedly.

Geographically I don't have a problem with that, much depends on your perspective. If you were Australian, for instance, it wouldn't be pushing it to regard it as a suburb of London.
