| Not too sure about Gale, i dont think he is what we need, but Jarrod Sammut would be awesome, i think he is just as good as Rangi Chase but in a slightly poorer team.

| With Gale coming in and if the rumour of Sammutt is correct, i can see AhVan & Herbert on their way, which for Herbert i dont think is fair, but as for Ah Van seemed to start ok but not sure if he should be obtained semmably for goal kikcing which Gale can do - wouldnt think Gale and Sammutt would do that bad tho IMO

Aye, and Eddie is hinting at it too. And, as we all know:

Interesting points and TBH I see it exactly the same way. Serious question to all though. Many believe that Herbert and Ah Van have been a poor useage of important quota spots. Have they turned it round that much that losing them would be a blow?
My take on it is that Ah Van is an ok winger and Herbert is an ok half back but surely we can do better with the quota spots?

Think problem is, in general the quality of imports isnt there anymore. This is probably a combination of the poor exchange rate/closing of tax loopholes and the impending rise in the NRL salary cap. So your left with players at ends of there careers coming over for a payday or fringe players like ah van and herbert coming over to get more gametime. With the fringe type players how long do you give them to prove themselves before shipping them back and trying another one?.
In ah vans case he started ok then tailed off mid season (when he looked to be carrying an injury and also moved into ) before looking ok again last couple of games. Herbert started with an injury and took time to settle into team but now is steadily improving week on week. It wasnt unusual for established quota players to take a year to settle into superleague before really showing what they could do so why do we expect less experienced fringe players to have an immediate impact?.
Its a balancing act at end of day judging whether someones settling well and has improvement in them and are worth persevering with or if its time to write them off and bring in the next gamble.

| Everybody seems to be assuming we aren't offering Herbert a contract, I know it's hard to believe but he might be a homesick aussie that's professional enough to see out the contract he signed before he buggers off.
Sammut is a quality player and would be a great addition to our squad but it does seem odd that we would have Sammut, Gale Jefferies and Briggs on the books, can see Briggs going tbh otherwise if Herbert is leaving, which is looking more likely, why would we keep playing him, might as well get Briggsy up to speed at the back end of our season as we aren't really playing for anything but pride now.

| Joel Moon would be a pretty good signing, dont know if there is any truth in it though.

| I would prefer to keep herbert than have sammut. He has improved a massive amount and looks to have room to continue improving. Sammut is know as an off the cuff player which makes it difficult to have attacking structure which we desperately need. The quota spot is only of use if we can sign a decent player which I'm not sure we can,and even then I would ship on the winger who isn't much better than we have got

dont think it would really be fair expecting briggs to play with a broken wrist

Agree with that. Sammut always looks good on highlights because they show the flashy off the cuff trys. They dont show his bad bits. Its more telling IMO that Crusaders fans dont seem bothered in slightest about losing him. Would lose ah van before herbert and even that would depend on us having someone better to bring in who needed the quota spot.
think jeffries/herbert with gale as backup (swap jeffries/gale depending on opposition) looks our strongest lineup at moment. wonder if we're looking at briggs going to quins on loan for a year/permanently given theres been no mention of fee for the last year of Gales contract.

| Would be crazy to let herbert go with the half backs we have, including gale. He looks the most likely to be a standout player, so unless there are TWO quality quota players coming in it makes no sense.
Everybody seems to agree that bj is ideally a back up and Briggs hasn't shown potter enough to rely on him, so the 1st choice half back this season just leaving would be strange.
