| Saturday night on Sky the attendance will always be slightly lower than normal. We'd have probably hit 6,500 if the game was on tomorrow afternoon.

There we go turin... another factor. The likes of Leeds and Saints have more games on TV, this could affect crowd size.

| Quote: mirfieldrhino "I'd be implying that population may or may not be significant in determining crowd size. I can go on and explain what statistical significance is but I'm sure you don't really want to know.
Ethnic composition of the area would be a key factor too - as, in all honesty, RL is largely a white persons pastime.
Income would also be a factor - whether it be someone's ability to purchase a season ticket or attend games regularly. Perhaps the effect works the opposite way though as RL is seen as a working-man's game.
Even factors such as car ownership, ease of public transport access to stadium, how many schools in the area play RL, number of amateur clubs in the area, quality of food in the ground, quality of facilities in the ground.
You wouldn't know which factors are significant or not until you've performed some econometrics on the data (you can look that up too at the same time as statistical significance). May turn out that, in reality, population doesn't have that much of an effect.
Enlightened?'"
So Bradford is the only place where ethnic minorities dwell, and castleford has no other sporting pastimes (or people who dont follow RL or watch LUFC)
Its all so clear to me now ,thank you

| I'm sure if we offered £60.00 ST for our fans, we'd regularly be getting 7,000+.
Stop whinging and concentrate on your own side.

Really?
Club Crowd Population
Salford 4500 221300
Saints 11500 102629
Warrington 9100 196200
Wigan 14100 8120
Your case is far from rested my friend.

Like I've said - population is not the be-all and end-all when determining crowd size. Saint's figures (if you're referring to this year as their average for 2009 was 11,500) will be affected by not playing at 'home'.
Tip for the future - when picking an argument on a topic like this, don't do it with an economist.

Have you been on the ale?
Re-read my posts and you'll see that, at no point, did I say population wasn't a factor. I said to base an idea that this was the only/most-important factor would be daft.

It doesn't, if you look at the ethnic composition of the Bradford area, rugby league isn't part f the asian or polish communities. Most probable a vast majority of the asian communities in Bradford wouldn't be able t tell you what rugby league is. Its not straight ratio of population versus attendance also includes the communities with these areas, there is no direct correlation.

I'd probably say it has a slight effect. Nothing substantial. Like Callum's just said, as I did earlier, the ethnic make-up of the population will be crucial too. Possibly having a greater effect than population.
Who knows unless you really analyse the data.
