If he did only have one year left on his deal, again I ask why on earth would the club let him go on loan to Souths? What would be the point of loaning him (unless there's a recall clause in there) rather than just letting him leave?

but he doesnt only have a year left, he has two as you pointed out earlier. Two things spring to mind. firstly if he is a hit down under then we may be able to command a larger transfer fee if they want to buy him out of last year off his contract as opposed to what they would be prepared to pay now for an unproven player. Secondly we dont know the terms off the deal so its hard to say whether its good or bad from our point off view. On the face off it we potentially get a player back having benefited from playing in a better competition than our academy league, with the obvious danger that he may like it down there and not want to return. Possibly we've got to sign a 1 year extension to his current deal so he gets to go to oz for a year and sample the lifestyle and we still get two years service out of him afterwards? Like I said until we know details off the deal its hard to judge.
