| If he gets a new contract the crowds could well go to an all time low.

If the team do very well, regardless of who is coach, the crowds ought to rise.
If the team do pants, regardless of who is coach, the crowds will likely fall again.
I presume what you mean to say is that you are assuming the latter will happen under Macca, and the former is moire likely under someone else? That would make more sense?

Sorry but if we want to get back on form to challenge for the top slots then we need new blood, whilst SM is a good coach he is not going to take my side to the top. If we sign him for another few years it will be the same old, tactics and league positions.

| rlThe Chairman speaksrl
Hmm. Nothing very unequivocal there. Reading that, anyone not knowing any of the characters or the background would surely read it as saying the Chairman does not know what the coach's plans are, and in turn has no long-term plans for the coach - given the lack of any ringing endorsement.
Or they all know exactly what is happening but are not for saying yet.

Agreed. I hope it's the last sentence.
If it isn't then I'd be surprised. As I said somewhere earlier I'd be amazed if McNamara wasn't keeping Hood informed of goings on after the way Hood's stuck by him since 2006. Similarly if Hood's not offered a new contract yet then McNamara's going to have to weigh up alternatives. Having said that I think it would be too soon to offer a new deal anyway, if at all.
Just hope the directors have some decent irons in the fire if we need to find a replacement.

| well i doubt very much the rfl have just put names in a hat and gone "we're interviewing x,y,z for the england job." more likely certain coaches have applied for the job, possibly as speculative applications. agar, mcnamara, mcdermott, they all had the same thing in common when the rumours started. they're likely to be sat home next season as things stand. agar is out of the running after the hull board gave him 2 more years but mcnamara is out of contract at the end of the season and mcdermott's head is wanted by the quins fans and he has been in the last chance saloon so long he has his own stool by the bar.
so it stands to reason that they would be looking at their future.
or, if the rfl have approached mcnamara off their own backs it could be that we have a similar situation to Deacon early in the season. He asked the club for a release to go to Wigan to be a player/coach, the club only agreed to that if they could find a suitable replacement then we got the call saying would you like to sign orford and it's bye bye deacs.
so, it maybe the club have asked mcnamara and the rfl to hold off on the announcements until they have a suitable replacement lined up

| No-one seems to have expressed surprise that McNamara is even being considered for the England job. He's hardly proved his credentials at Bradford has he? I respect McNamara as a person and I think he was a great player but he's not yet shown that he's cut out to be a successful coach.

You're assuming that the England job is one that appeals to coaches!

| I'm dreading an announcement from the club or the RFL.
As much as i'd love to see a top Aussie coach, I can just see us going for McDermott or Lowes, and imo we would go backwards.

| I've thought for the last two seasons that Macca was not up to the job in SL, not that he's bad, just not up to speed in the modern game either as a man motivator, tecnical coach or a tactition.
I think his coaching has become stale and uninspired so we do need a new cioach for enervation.
BUT frying pan and fire is a phrase that immediatly comes to mind.
There are better coaches we could appoint but there is some dross that would not improve us at all.
Should Macca be leaving, and this is by no means a possibilty at this time, then it would be dissapointing if a top notch coach could not be appointed.
There would be a financial issue of course in expenditure, but I would argue that a top coach is worth at least the salary of a top player.

| After reading that T & A article I thought he must be going.
Listen to this weeks Pulse Podcast, McNamara does sound genuine and I don't think he's going now.

Karl Harrison is doing a good job at Batley, got Salford promoted and into play-offs before a disaster final season with them. Ex-assistant so knows club
Warren Jowett is an ex-player who guided Dewsbury through last season unbeaten.
Both better options than Steve Sims and easier to prise away than Cullen. Could also add Betts to that list. He didn't do too bad at Wigan.

None of them would be good for our club. Not experienced enough and haven't shown any proper quality in coaching. Australia is the place to look, if we took any of those mentioned in your post then that would be a disaster.
