| Back from the US for a couple of weeks, so got to my first game this year - a few observations;
1. Despite being full time we didn't look particularly fitter than our part time opponents
2. Despite training all week we didn't look more technically capable
3. With all week to work on game management we didn't look more tactically astute
4. Our pack is very soft
5. The refereeing standard was woeful
Hoping I'll be told we had an off day, if that's a fair reflection of where we're at I'm very worried about ever returning to SL under the current system.
That said I will also hope a full off season with Rohan Smith can shape us into a useful side!

In my eyes you've given a a fair assessment of our season and the faults we see most weeks . Hopefully Smith can change things in the off season and sign a couple of tough hard forwards. On today's ref I found it ironic the only time he let it flow with our quick penalty he was wrong and rightly overruled by the touch judge

5. Lithuanian rules. Hopefully next week we'll be back to UK rules.
Serious;y though, it was a fair reflection of where we're at, if you combine it with last week. We're erratic. I would say we clearly have a lot more firepower and quality in our car than the opponents, but we only just bought it, and it will take a season or so to tune it up, with several tweaks and replacement parts yet to come. It has the makings of a good car, but at the moment, it is prone to misfires and stutters.
The encouraging part for me was that for once, we looked head and shoulders the better team than Dewsbury, whereas this season that hasn't always been the case.

We did look a bit more aggressive in the tackle, which I think is something we've lacked since dropping down to the Championship. But that I think that's off the back of trying to play the game in the SL style where you need to tackle and get back fast as the PTB is quicker. Hopefully, having a full off season under Smith with clear out of the bloated playing staff and perhaps one or two extra guys of Smith's choosing on the backroom staff might see us stronger next year

| I bet we have a few players sore heads tonight. Never seen a game with so many penalties for head high tackles. Sure they were punished with a penalty but nothing more, and how many are needed before at least even a team warning is issued?

| If Dewsbury had put as much effort in playing rather than laying on, trying to start a fight and milking penalties (which thy did twice) they would have got a better score.

They did it more than twice. In fact they were doing it all game and it wasn't until late in the game that the useless fecker in the middle got wise to it. I know the RFL must be desperate for referees with the likes of Stokes, Ansell, Silverwood & Thomason all leaving for various reasons recently, but this bloke was given a Super League game recently. Desperation doesn't even cover it.

1..Agreed. We don't look as fit as we should.
2&3 Disagree. I didnt think we looked too bad with ball in hand. Scored 6 tries still. Still lacking a bit more quality to compliment Chisholm and Moss but I think Leon will bring this. Dewsbury tactics were too rough us up and try make us lose our cool. We clearly looked the better side.
4. Agreed.
5. Agreed
Messy scrappy horrible game with an horrendous ruck. I think we did quite well to score 6 tries.

Its worked for them in the past against us. Maybe we're learning not to get involved in that type of crap because we're a better rugby playing team

| Maybe, though I would have subbed Clark for gobbing off at the ref twice, he's a good player but we don't need another penalty machine

| Vytas is a big lad for 16. Seems like a level headed kid too. He's done well this year by all accounts.
