I think that the whole compensation thing was tied up with the fact that we were going to put the money towards the development of the new stadium. This would have taken responsibility from the council and onto the Bulls. This together with the retail development would have funded the new stadium. where things went pear shaped was when the beloved Sir Ken put his two pennyworth in and stuffed the whole package. This was the start of the whole downfall, and not Harrisgate, despite the fact that we won titles afterwards. We could never square the circle of maintaining the old ground on our crowds over 14 fixtures a year.

I have it on good authority that complex negotiations are going on but cannot divulge my source

we went to valley parade when new stadium was still a viable prospect. It was blocked whilst we were at VP and the compensation deal was agreed to get us back at odsal. Council wanted to condemn main stand or keep us at VP permanently. compensation money was never meant to go towards new staium as it had already died a death at that stage.

Once Stephen Byers called it in for a public enquiry after Bradford Council had granted provisional planning permission Tesco walked away.

This thread has more of a Lord of the Rings feel to it. Some useful info some pointless info and pages of filler in while folk are bored.

Surely in order to be sustainable this 'planned new stadium' would need to be used all 12 months of the year. But sharing with Park Avenue can't help that much? With them not playing a higher league of football and not getting crowds then the stadium would lose money and wouldn't we inevitably pick up the bill? If anything we need to be looking a ground share with Bradford City, I'd sooner see us play out of Valley Parade and sell Odsal off for development.
