Sack that idea then. Shame he hasn't had any 1st team action this year. I still have a lot of hope for that lad in the future.

| The next two games are perfect to blood anymore youngsters. No pressure on them just let them show what they can do.

| I've been having a look at the U20s archive on the Bulls site, it seems that Cain Southerwood hasn't played since June, so he looks like a non-starter - which is a shame.
I'd have certainly looked to play him in the last two games. But it looks like we're stuck with Ben Jeffries who looked totally inadequate last night. If Briggs is ready, then he is the obvious person to come in and get two games under his belt.
I definitely hope we don't go down the 'safe' route of shifting Kearney to six and playing Royston at FB. Personally, I don't Royston should be playing in the final two games seeing as he's off at the end of the season.
I'd certainly be looking to bring in Kyle Briggs, Vinnie Finnegan and Rob Hawthorne. And might as well start with Adam O'Brien as he looks better as a long term bet at hooker than Danny Addy.
I would be very happy to see the following against Crusaders
Kearney
Ainscough
Finnegan
Hawthorne
Raynor
Briggs
Jeffries
Burgess
O'Brien
Lynch
Olbison
Elima
Addy
Langley
Kopczak
Hargreaves
Platt (or Sykes, to cover backs)
Give the young guns a start and put some experience on the bench for interchange. That would be my thought

| Anybody know if we have any fullback prospects at U20s? I'd rather see Kearney & Briggs at 6 & 7 and blood a youngster at fullback as a posed to seeing either of Herbert & Jefferies at half back again this season

| Quote: Sensei-Bull "Id much rather see southernwood get a couple of games under his belt this season. I'm pretty sure Bateman will be pretty ineffective at 6 barring the odd good pass. Keep him in the centre/2nd row for now. Southernwood's got a bit of a kicking game too which we'll desperately need, especially now Herberts out.'"
Southernwood hasn't played for a while and I've got to say I've seen nothing from him this year which screams "select me boss". This isn't to say he won't be, but he isn't ready yet, anyway it's hardly fair to stick young kids into a dysfunctional side like ours. If he were tearing up the U20s there might be a point to giving him a go, but he isn't, so to be honest, I wouldn't.
Bateman has been playing at stand-off for the U20s and has been going OK; he looks quality and I'd expect quite a bit more game time next season. Certainly wouldn't be shocked to see him in the 17 for the next couple of weeks, though not necessarily at 6..

Crookes is out for the season with a hernia, I believe.
Otherwise I'd agree with your selection

| The whole point of letting Royston go was that Kearney is now and will be for the forseeable future the first choice FB

| We didn't let Royston go it was a choice of 2 Years in Bradford or a Year in France (which him and his wife have wanted to do for a while) and at 28/29 he aint going to get many more oppertunities to go. So we didn't 'let' him go, he went by choice.
And didn't know Crookes was injured :/ Hmm what about players that are going to be with us next year:
Finigan
Ainscough
Sykes
Hawthorne
Raynor
Kearney
Briggs
Lynch
O'Brien
Burgess
Elima
Olbison
Bateman
Addy
Langley
Hargreaves/Scruton
Kopczak

from what Ive seen of finnigan playing for sheffield this year combined with him being OOC I wouldnt be surprised if he isnt with us next year. Think walkers due back this week and as hes likely to be resigned I'd play him ahead of sykes. If briggs is fit then pair him with jeffries, as like it or not jeffries will still be here next year unless someone comes in for him. Leaves kearney free to play FB. If Briggs isnt fit then kearney to Halves and Id probably try platt at FB ahead of sykes unless we have a decent academy FB whos ready to step up.

| If Chev Walker is fit then he should definitely play in both games. He needs game time after a season ruined by injury. I'd certainly have Walker in the Centres instead of Sykes or Platt, frankly
Finnegan hasn't had a sniff this year, and I agree with Mat that when we've seen him play for Sheffield he hasn't stood out. If its been decided to let him go, then there's no point in playing him. Otherwise he should be in. But why would he be offered another contract when he can't get a game for us no matter how badly we play?
What's happened with Olbision? He was playing regularly and doing OK, then he got (I think) an ankle injury. He was supposed to be back in July, but hasn't been seen
Oh, and scrub Scruton from your team Bulls Boy, he's injured

Kearney is probably the most badly positioned FB in super league. His reading of the game is dreadful.

He hinted at it LONG before I did. He was right.
As, in fairness, usually am I.

| But I didn't know for definate if Walker would be fit.
And Finigan played well for us last year but he never stood out in the academy before. I would give him a runout.
Scrap Scruton and play Hargreaves instead. If Walker isn't fit and Briggs is thats the team I would put out unless Southernwood is fit. Then Kearney/Southernwood in halves.
