He's a very good winger. Fast and strong. Not to sure about him being a stand off though. Would be a decent buy.

| Never heard of Carney playing in the halves (maybe someone's gotten him mixed up with former Raider, Todd Carney). He came to the Raiders as a hooker, played in the U20s team as a left centre, earning the title as best in his position by the end of the comp's inaugral year. His try scoring record in the comp was nearing 2 a game, before being promoted to first-grade.
He is an integral part of the 2008 U20s backline crop who are making a name for themselves in the NRL. They're all staying at the Raiders for at least another couple of years.

| interesting that carney is both under contract and highly rated by raiders fans. can't help wondering if this could be part of a swap deal for sam. cant see us being a position to pay a transfer fee for carney but if hes part payment to release sam for next year then it could make sense, especially as carney is a player in a position we need to strengthen.

A promising start to his career.
IIRC he also fnished as the top scorer in the WCC that season. I even recall him scoring a few tries as Hunter beat Wigan in the knock out stages.

You know what, the Raiders are in need of a good prop next season. I don't at all believe a swap is in the works, but as good a prospect as Carney is, i'd be happy to swap him for Burgess. We've had Josh Dugan, Jarrod Croker and Daniel Vidot all come up from the U20s this year, and they've all performed admirably. With Dury Low still to come, and Joel Monaghan and Phil Graham already there, we can afford to lose one of our backs.
I'll stop dreaming.....now.

I was thinking in terms of carney + cash. talk of getting a few NRL players in exchange for burgess is rubbish because we dont have the quota spaces to accomodate them but one player plus cash to allow us to pay transfer fees for SL players might be a goer. Can't honestly see sam going to raiders though, I'd think manly, roosters, wests probably in that order would be favourites.

| Are we all stocked up for overseas players next year, so a player trade is out of the question?

at the moment we have two quota spaces free, but the kearney signing looks highly likely which would leave us with just one. this to be taken by millard/carney/walker/a.n.other
