ie - O'Brien to Hudds. Did they not have a couple of SL quality hookers already?
Moss to HKR - did they not already have a decent fullback?
Welham to Salford - did they not have a couple of decent centres on their books at this stage of pre-season?
Rumoured Chisholm to Widnes - I thought they'd signed someone to cover Brown already?
There's going to be some players in those key positions at those clubs not getting gametime.
I wonder if they would be up for a loan?'"
We could dual-reg with Huddersfield and virtually re-create last seasons team

| Quote Highlander="Highlander"Here's my question. All the clubs that took our creative players. Did they not have those types of players already? Or are they just taking advantage of the salary cap exemption to hoard players (increase the squad size may be more polite)

In most cases no. Hudds have Hinchcliffe who is a loose really, and Leeming and maybe another kid who aren't good enough. Mellor is a back up, but they lack centres, like giving Gaskell no. 4 shirt.
Rervers have Cockayne and Quinlan one is an old penalty machine and the other is gash.
Salford were on the look out for a centre, especially after Vidot left. Gift horse.
Widnes lost Brown and "promoted" Gilmore and Craven, so again an open door for Chisholm. Although Dane and Joe Mellor are quite similar.
Toronto and Sidlow? Dunno, lost track of their squad.

A bit harsh on Quinlan there He's a decent fullback, albeit not in Moss' calibre. Plus I'm sure Moss could cover the other back positions (and maybe stand off?) so it was a no-brainer for them as soon as the RFL removed the non-fed and overseas quota stipulations.
Have Huddersfield really given Gaskell the 4 shirt?

Well good luck to him I guess. Ready to be proven wrong but I just can't see him as a centre.

I don't think he'll do badly there. Got good hands and I would expect he'll make plenty of tries for Aaron Murphy who should be outside him. It also means his biggest weakness isn't too big of an issue as he's less likely to get injured if he doesn't get the ball quite as much.
Is his defence good enough for a centre? Maybe not. But there have been plenty of successful centres who haven't been able to defend (Ryan Atkins springs to mind).

He won't stay there, his defence isn't strong enough. Another tough year for the Giants in SL, although not as tough as ours I expect!

Rick Stone seems keen on him at 4. Alternatively Tom Symonds has when required done a good job there in NRL / Murphy / Sam Wood and possibly young Wardle.

Not really, we were experts at paying and paying and paying him to sit in the stands and never play. Novel will be if he does that running onto the pitch thing.

To be fair, we should have stopped paying him as soon as he did his "I don't want to play in the Shield in case I get injured again" bit. Instead we paid him all the way to the end of his contract, albeit sometimes a few days late. Got more than he deserved IMO. He wasn't owed when the wages weren't paid at all in December as he'd left by that point.
