Quote M@islebugs="M@islebugs"1100 is an extraordinary number for a team 4th in Championship with only an outside chance of promotion. Did Fev bring 300 to Odsal?
Good grief, 1800 to a SL game featuring the top side in the comp is the end of the professional game. Anybody trumpeting the advancement of Toulouse take note. How do you re-structure this?'"
I’m not sure how many Featherstone supporters came to the game at Odsal because people could use the cash turnstiles, so it’s always difficult to make an accurate account.
The point I was trying to make was that 1100 supporters going to York yesterday is excellent considering what is happening elsewhere in the sport and the York supporters should equally be congratulated for turning up in big numbers.
The main stand at York holds just over 3500 and was 80% full with a further 400 in hospitality.
Without wanting to turn this into a Super League vs Championship debate, the crowd at York yesterday puts the crowds at some Super League games to shame.
In response to how you restructure this crisis for the sport, I'm not entirely sure. I feel too much irreversible damage has been done since the Super League split at Salford three years ago and no matter what remodelling structure the sport decides to agree on we are still drinking in the last chance saloon with the potential threat of Sky walking away for good almost certain.
