| Everyone's fault but Derek's then. His ego is more important than the club.

| I actually do feel sorry for him.
First and foremost he's a fan who's tried to do what we'd all try to do for Bradford if we were minted.
By walking away he's had to eat a decent amount of humble pie in recognising he's not all powerful and yes, moaning about the player seems silly but again as a fan he's probably not acknowledging they don't have the love for the club he clearly has. This is reflected in his theme of 'I gave so much why haven't you???'.
Simple answer Derek is they are not fans of the club, it's a pure business decision and that's where the likes of you and Green fell... from 'let's do it right' to gambling to become the saviour. The ego takes over and forgets you can't control everything...
I just hope Chalmers never becomes a Bulls fan

| It's the Leigh fans I feel for especially since we all know what it's like to go through this. As for Derek I remember him taking the pi55 when he was riding high so feel less sympathetic toward him now.

| The statement does come over a bit like everyone was against us.
I started thinking that Salford and Leigh have both had millionaire businessmen who both lost their common sense when running their rugby clubs. Haven't Leigh simply spent what they didn't have in this last year when they were desperate to get back up. Didn't we do similar and it all fell down around us?
Again, it is the loyal fans who will end up going through a rough time and paying for the new club that they end up with.
Roger stated a couple of weeks ago that he thought the doctor was involved somehow up at Odsal. Oh, I hope he isn't too involved as I don't want us to end up on a roller coaster ride again.
How many feel like me that I would rather have Chalmers alone even if it means we become a top championship club and stay there for a while and not gamble on the SL until we know 100% that we are on sound foundations. A happy championship club sounds better to me that a SL club always on the edge - and then hopefully in a few years we can move up with full confidence.

| That is such a strange stipulation on the £500k parachute payment. I suppose it is so that they know the money was spent on the squad rather than just being squandered, but it's still odd to me.

I'd rather Chalmers wasn't involved at all. I feel the fears over Koukash wouldn't be there if one of his known mates wasn't the chairman, so you'd kill that bird with the same stone. As well as getting rid of Chalmers, who I've said before I wouldn't trust as far as I could kick him.

I think it's more a case of the parachute payment being intended towards ensuring some of those players that lose their pay/contracts due to relegation can be looked after. The parachute payment in football is supposed to be to help the club pay existing contracts (they don't get ripped up on relegation like in RL), and I suspect this is something along the same lines. Derek has just twisted the words a bit to sound like he's the victim, as he seems to have done with most of that statement.

| The problem with Degsy (if indeed it is a problem) is that he is a fan of his club, just as we are of ours, and therefore can't understand why players are more interested in themselves than the club.
This does however show the plight of a sport that relies on 'sugar daddies'. Compare this with the premier league that have reported today that 10 clubs last year made a profit before they even sold a single admission ticket.

Very true. At the end of the day players will likely have families and a roof to put over their own heads, not to mention a whole lof of life after sport to consider. I'm sure players are totally committed to their team mates and the club when everything is running smoothly, but like any other bloke, in any other kind of job, when the money stops then other priorities come to the fore and rightly so.

Yeah maybe. At least Beaumont is moving to reduce Leigh’s liabilities and has gone public.
I got to shell out on a “cheap” season ticket before that became worthless and the club was liquidated. Followed by the most pointless hiding to nothing that last season was. Just so that it didn’t look like he was trading insolvent.
I know which approach I prefer.

No arguments from me on that.
