| Hopefully Platty will be ok for the Cas game. I liked the way we set up against Wakefield.

Just concussion apparently. So no damage.
Should be ok for next week.

| Just a quick note, although a late one but dewsbury v fev match on premier sports now at half time. Dewsbury have Karl Pryce on debut and donno n O'Brien on dual reg.

| I'll take a 28-12 loss to Hull FC with the squad we have especially after last years thrashing. Roll on Castleford!!

| I listened on BCB (yeah... I know) and the commentator was really big on the lack of intensity in the first half from the Bulls. It sounded like we were lucky to be only 12-0 down at the break.
Assuming that's the case (and its sometimes hard to tell from BCB) that's a concern. Cummins mentioned on the BBC Sport report that he was disappointed that they let the Hull pack get on top early, so it doesn't sound wide of the mark. If we are going to compete this season, we need to come out the blocks firing from the first minute. If we let teams dominate us, our lack of pack power will mean that we are always going to be dominated.
But, as has been said, we're probably not expected to beat Hull on their turf. And it was a lot closer than that last time we played them...

| after the first 15 minutes, bradford had the bulk of possesion in the first half, you even had 5 cosecutive sets at one point! poor decision making and solid defence kept the bulls out, second half we were more on top and the scoreline reflected it

| I think the loss of Platt and the moving of Addy to the halves blunted our attack some what.
But we were always going to be in an uphill battle against Hull and given how badly we fared against them the last time we played them, a loss of only 14 points can be seen as an improvement.

| You seemed reluctant to move the ball wide, there were loads of times where you had an overlap and opted for a crash ball to a backrower instead. We defended really well, but you never made us work really hard to keep you out, aside from a few touches from Sammut it was pretty much one up. As some of you have said this may be down in part to having to juggle things around due to Platts injury.
It was an enjoyable game though I thought, certainly no lack of effort from either side.

| I thought the 28-12 score line was probably a fairly fair reflection on the game to be honest. We managed to do some good stuff to get on the Hull line but came up short in attack. The short flat pass and barge over the line was easily dealt with by some pretty strong Hull defence. When we did get close to scoring we either dropped the ball or took the wrong option. I think it took us until the 70th minute to make a clean break and by then the game was gone. The injury to Platt certainly caused some disruption with Addy moving to 6, Kearney to FB and Foster out onto the wing. Addy never quite got into the game and made some poor decisions in defence that led to tries for Hull. Foster barely saw the ball again once he was shifted onto the wing.
The Bulls did keep plugging away though and never gave in, I was worried we might collapse and be on the end of a hiding in the 2nd half. FC will be disappointed though, we can play much better than they showed today but to get a result away to the likes of Hull we really need our better players like Gale, Bateman and Purtell available.
After the result Cas got today, they will be full of confidence on Sat so it should be a cracker!

Chase's hit on Hardaker didn't look high either live on on Sky Sports News, the contact is not with the head at all. Couldn't see what happened with the pushing and shoving but that is all it seemed to be and the referee didn't speak to anyone apart from the two captains.
And by the way, playing for England has no bearing on whether he can stay in the country. He will probably fail to get another Visa when his current one expires. Chase is by a long way the best stand-off in the country and SL will be poorer without him.

| A lacklustre performance from the Bulls today & fortunate that Hull coughed up so many errors not to win by a lot more.
Pretty clueless in attack on Hull's line, where we were many times & dire in support play. Last week we had 14 offloads - today only 1 that I noticed.
We were rarely on the front foot in any phase of play with both hookers struggling to make meters.
Overall there seemed a lethargy. Players planted in positions and not working to run deeper angles.
The loss of a winger to injury should not normally be a big deal, but today it had ramifications that perhaps lost us a game we might have won.
Platt off.
Foster to Wing
Kearney to full back
Addy to stand off. He is not a stand off and failed entirely to drive the team around the pitch
Sammut took over the tactical kicking and was ineffectual, kicking 3 in goal attempts dead.
Should Addy have gone onto the wing instead? At least perhaps for 5 minutes for him get attuned to the game? Certainly the loss of Kearney at stand off was a game changer.

| Looking at the highlights.......
1. Crookes try was a result of Lulia shooting out. If he'd have kept in the line teh sliding defence would have ushered Crookes into touch. His try celebration is also worth noting for when we play them at Odsal.
2. The McDonnell try. When Crookes kicked through it looked like McDonnell was offside although I could not see where exactly he was stood when the ball was kicked. Maybe someone who was there could enlighten me.
3. Briscoe should have been stopped -_-
4. Holdsworths try (or Pitts can't remember) was a result of tiredness and defenders not being aware. It wasn't great rugby from Hull but good enough to get over.
5. Blythe's try should have been stopped :/ We had no dummy runners which was quite concerning. Good finish though.
6. Platt going off certainly had an effect on the game. When you have to restructure your halves and fullback it's going to have a baring on the game. However poor choices in defence lost us that game and I expect us to buck up and win against Castleford. After all not many expected a result at Hull anyway.
