| TBH, looking back at the game, I can understand why Potter didn't pick Ainy. He's been going well for us but Sinfield would have just bombed him all night long. Ainy does have a bit of a problem under the high ball, and getting battered all night long with the increased chance of errors could shatter his confidence. So, I think Potter made the right choice and protected the player

I forgot he was playing for most of the game.
Ainscough has looked solid under the high ball to me this year, I've seen both Walker and Raynor mess up more high balls. Raynor and Ainscough are obviously completely different wingers but we could have done with Ainscough out there when the forwards started to tire, he makes some good meters and gets us back on the front foot, something Raynor didn't do.

| Ainscough better be playing against Catalan. He has pace and also can catch. Oh did I mention he's probably the best/joint best winger we have?

| Well, IMO, the reason that the Platt/Ainscough right wing partnership has come on well this year is because both players are of a similar mindset. What I mean by that is both players are confidence players. When they're confident they're on fire, but if that confidence gets a crack then their performance takes a nose dive. Look at Platt for example, started out great at FB for us, but after a few bad errors and the fans getting on his back over them, he retreated into his shell, but once moved from the spotlight position of FB to centre he's come on leaps and bounds, and in the main I think that is down to the fact there's less pressure on him at centre. Ainy is the same, started all guns blazing at Wigan, then a few wobbles under the high ball, confidence shot and he loses his spot in the team and gets farmed out on loan.
So Potter made the right call in protecting the guy as Sinfield would have kicked him to death, just like he did to Vainikolo in the 2004 GF
