| First half we looked OK but not really that convincing and allowed them to walk through our defence on a few occasions including then Morrison dropped the ball when over the line. The tries we scored were good but the defence looked frail.
Start of second half was like pulling teeth with Wakie camped in our 40 for first 12 minutes getting a few consecutive sets through pressure, mistakes and strange referee decisions without actually looking like scoring. When we did finally get a bit of ball we looked good and a few of the moves were class which bodes well for rest of the season - that bit of understanding is starting to develop with the players. To be honest the score probably flattered Wakie a bit - their second to last try was a length of pitch run that Raynor go back across the pitch to stop before they scored against a none existant defence (still coming back from the Wakie line) in the next play and the last try looked a bit dodge as the hooter went.
Final point: the team played for the full 80 without looking exhausted, but the amount of time they spent on the floor everytime Wakie tackled it's hardly suprising.

| Thought the three props were really good (Lynch, Kopczak and Hargreaves) it wasn't Scrutes best performance but he didn't really do anything wrong either. Diskin was excellent when you consider the game time he played today.
Agree with the Ainscough/Platt partnership looking strong, we have some good strike options on both wings now and Raynors appetite for work is excellent
The error count was worrying though and against better sides that will cost us but it was Herberts first SL game, he will settle but I think this took the pressure of the pack and it showed. Some of the ref decisions were plain wrong and allowed them back into it as they struggled to get out of their half on their own.
But there were more positives than negatives - a win, good pack performance, 40 pts

| Pretty much as others are saying
Very much a work-in-progress, but a definite improvement from last week and, at the end of the day, you can only hope for a week on week improvement at this stage. So I suspect Mick Potter will be pretty pleased in the post match conference.
There were a few points where we looked like cutting loose and really putting Wakefield to the sword - only to throw it away with elementary errors and some unfathomable refereeing decisions. But the pack dominated and got through a ton of work, whilst Kearney looked dangerous every time he got the ball. Good to have plenty of pace out wide - Raynor's chase back deserved better than a try the next play!
And pleased to see Kopczak nabbing a hat trick, hopefully that will give him a the confidence boost that it sometimes seems like he needs.
Probably the one slight 'downside' was that Herbert looked very rusty, and some of his kicking was very poor. Hopefully he'll get up to speed for next week.

| Ainscough has been brilliant in his first 2 games, he's electric and deserves to keep his spot on the wing. 2 tries in 2 games for him aswell. His defence has certainly got better too.

| Good game. Some outstanding tries once again. I'm not sure I like this "seat of the pants" style of rugby though. What happened to route one up the middle? Oh the good old days...
Ainscough and Raynor were both outstanding, two pacy wingers both hungry for work? What's that all about?
And the forwards dominated just about every collision. Well played Koppy for his hat trick but didn't think he was the best of the props.
Good stuff. Roll on Hudds next week - that will be a proper test to see where we are. We will not be able to afford as many errors against them.

| Much improved from last week. Defence was excellent for large parts of the game, and our forwards completely dominated. We'll still need to keep improving, especially with Hudds up next.
Lynch was absolutely outstanding, got through more work than it shuold be possible for 1 prop to do! Made huge metres and gave some great offloads.
There was some entertaining rugby played today. Ainscough's break down the wing was great to watch - haven't seen wing play like that at Odsal in a long time. Hugged the touchline, and had the strength to stay in the field of play at the end of it. I like Ainscough's style of play - he just never stops twisting & turning in the tackle and it makes it hard for the opposition to stop him.
The Royston try from Kearney's chip was outstanding. And so was Kearney for most of the game. Apart from a couple of poor kicks in the last 10 minutes he didn't put a foot wrong. I think once we have Briggs back then the combos between 1, 6, 7 & 9 will be a joy to watch. Royston will find it hard to get in the side, but with how he played today he'll be making people fight for their place. He's there chasing every kick and waiting behind the ball carrier time & time again.
I think we've found our wingers in Raynor & Ainscough too - both have real pace and any defensive 'issues' Ainscough had are long gone imo. He's done ver well when he's been outnumbered - not committing himself too early and most of the time making the tackle.
Herbert was rusty, but thats expected. It helped to have somebody on the pitch capable of some good quality long passes though (and those great short ones).
Addy made a real impact when he came on early in the 1st half. That offload for Koppy's 2nd try (I think) was awesome.
Olbison deserves a mention too - he doesn't look fazed by SL at all and showed us why Mick Potter had the faith to give him his first start.
Platty played well again - but that goes without saying lately. He's developed into a good centre, and a very consistent player.

What about taking the Lee kick on the full in the second half with the sun in his face = AMAZING.

That was excellent.
Not looking to criticise ex players, but can you imagine any of our wing options from last season doing that? Or the Raynor chase back, or Ainscough's break down the wing.
Ainscough & Raynor are both looking like very good signings and we are alot stronger out wide than last season.

| Did Addy come on at hooker? He seemed to do some damage there, unless it was someone else.
