| I'd forgotten all about Best. He had a cracking season over here, was it Hull? Be good to see him back.

Think he went from strength to strength in the NRL too (until now that is, it seems)

| If we're to use our quota spot, we'd be best served by signing a half back, given Herbert is still not fit to compete and Briggs is out til possibly the end of March.
We lacked a final attacking edge against Wigan, as good as Kearney can be running off a decent half back, he can't be expected to be the one organising our attack as that's not his style of play.
So, if Mick Potter doesn't feel that Southernwood is ready for SL, can't say I disagree as the lad is still a little on the small size when you compare him to other SL half backs, then we need either a new half back to come in or a better option to partner Kearney than Sykes.

| But is there a half back available? From what i can gather Timana Tahu is available and a game winning centre is more than we have had since Paul Newlove left us back in 199whenever
As said earlier waiting for a halve to become available and then getting a visa and integrating them into the team, well the season could be over by that point

True. In godwins case he was surplus to requirements so salford got a bargain. In Briggs case we had to pay a transfer fee, funded by fees we received for wardle, hellewell and george burgess.
Black definitely isnt surplus to requirements at fax so we wouldnt get him on a free and we dont have funds to pay a transfer fee (without having to sell someone else).

Easy to say. given that several over clubs are looking for halfs without success, so we'd be in a bidding war for anyone who was available. And if did manage to find someone available on a free from overseas by the time they get a visa/work permit sorted herbert and briggs would almost certainly be back playing. Not as simple as just going out and buying a half. If it was I'm certain we'd have done so already.

This is the one that annoys me the most, sorry how do you know this as fact. Has Peter Hood personally told you this shown you the clubs bank balance.

nope. has he told you? fact that we couldnt afford to spend full cap last year combined with poor attendances last year, reduced income from tickets this year (at leat until the extra merchandise and concession money starts coming in over the course of the season) and our published accounts for last few years very strongly suggest we arent in a position to pay significant transfer fees though.
