James Evans served Bradford pretty well, as did the likes of Ben Harris and Terry Newton (rip) etc., without ever being considered "Bradford legends".

He got injured in May and even allowing for poor Bradford summers it was a damned sight warmer than when he arrived!!

I would say 'Thank you Matt' for the difference he made when he played for us, single handedly turning games around and motivating the rest of the team.

I am truely sorry that it didn't work out between us and him and I largely wish him well for the future. I realise that not all career moves work out and often it takes considerable courage to admit you are wrong.

However, I can't help but feel cheated about the manner of his departure. Surely he must have known how this situation was going to play out either before he left or just after he got back to Oz. If he had singalled his intent to the club at that point then we could have negotiated an amicable settlement leaving him free to talk to other clubs. As it was we saw a media circus with rumour and speculation running rife.

I presume he kept quiet to the club to ensure we continued to pay him but at best this looks exceedingly cheap. I am sure that there are plently of people who mark time in their current job whilst looking for the job that they want, but these people are probably not contracturally bound not to seek alternative employment without gaining permission from their current employer.
