I would say it's a pre requisite of any RL player to be able to tackle. The best defender on the pitch should be in the line stopping the break and letting the opposition gain field position.

in fairness, kearney was better yesterday in defence. if you have a really good defensive player you would want them to be tackling a lot more than a full back should.
