Regarding Lulia,last year we had Gale and Jeffries for most of the season getting good early ball out wide for Lulia,and has been said on her, Bateman, for them to have best opportunity to show what they can do. Lost count on Sunday how many times the ball gets dropped off back inside where the leagues best defence were waiting,very poor play.

Lulia is a class player but needs a decent supply of ball in a bit of space and he will show what a class player he is,no doubt about that at all

Also can't believe people are questioning Kearneys ability,yes he had a poor game on Sunday,but come on get real, I think he is a quality player

To the best of my understanding of the RFL Operational Rules: Section C - Players

OFFERING OF CONTRACTS - NOTIFICATION OF CLUB’S INTENTION
C1:3:4 In respect of a Contract Player whose contract is due to expire on 30 November in any
given year, the Club must notify him in writing on or before 30th April in writing
whether:
(a) they intend to offer him terms of re-engagement:
(b) not offer a contract; or
(c) are yet to determine their position as a Club

DECISION NOT TO OFFER TERMS
C1:3:6 If the Club elects not to offer the Player terms of re-engagement the Club must inform
the Player and the Board in writing:
(a) for a Player on a Full Time Contract on or before 30th April or where the Club has
not determined its position as in C1:3:4 (c) above

ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER
C1:3:8 The Player must notify the Club holding his registration in writing whether or not he
accepts their offer of re-engagement by 31st May.. If the Player has not replied in writing to the Club's offer of re-engagement by 31st May then the offer shall automatically lapse and the Club's compensation rights shall not be affected (i.e. the Club shall be entitled to receive a compensation fee in respect of the loss of the Player's registration should he sign for another Club).

Must admit, I've made the same remark at matches. He's done nothing at all this season so far, and part of me wishes we'd taken the money that Leeds were offering.

It's almost as if coaches have learned how to play him now. On current form, if everyone was fit, you wouldn't have Lulia in the team, as the three quarter line of Kear, Purtell, Blythe & Foster is a better option.

I hope Lulia turns it around and finds the same sort of form he had last year, but so far this season he's been poor for mine.

Still not a formal cutoff date Bob. just means club have to tell players in writing what there plans are. They could tell all OOC players in writing that they are yet to determine their position and make decisions later. Contracts DO need to be being sorted no though and lack of a formal decision re SL license from RFL is hurting us unnecessarily.

You must be watching a different side to me if you think either Blythe or Purtell are a better option at centre than Lulia.
He is the most naturally gifted centre we have had at the club since Hape, without question. His defence is better than Purtell and Blythe, he has a better step, fend and offload than either of them and is probably quicker too.
Think about how many times Lulia's winger - whoever it may be - has been put in space compared to Kear.
To my knowldege, Kear has NEVER been put clear by his centre yet this season, all of his yards have come from his own individual play.

And what would be the point in taking a fee for Lulia? You think that a replacement will magically appear out of nowhere? All of the centres currently in super league are either sh*t, second rowers playing out of position, or have already been tied down to long term deals.

British centres - Watkins aside - are almost always poor and the number of aussie imports is only going to decrease. In my opinion we are very fortunate to have Keith at our club and we should be doing everything we can to keep him.

This. Remember post-haircut Langley. How long has it taken him to get back to something like? Look at the hirsute Sammutt; his form is now even well exceeding his Jack Sparrow days. Is it a co-incidence that he has more hair than a yak? I don't think so. Remember Samson? The list goes on.

There's too much credence given to this having hair lark.

Who could forget him or his flowing locks?

Indeed. When Lesley turned up he wasn't exactly in great form. It took a year or two of concentrated hair growth to ensure he became the best winger we've had since Jack McLean.

On Lulia and Purtell we need to remember where we were before they arrived. We had Platt and Sykes in the centres. Potter identified our edge defence as a big weakness. Remember how we always used to concede tries out wide? That problem is largely gone now (we tend to look more brittle nearer the middle where the second rows IMO but that's another story).

Our chances of recruiting better than either Lulia or Purtell are extremely slim indeed.

Also if they both grew some hair they'd be world beaters.

From what I saw of Lulia and Purtell in the NRL on premier sports before they came over here,I thought they were average players.

But average in Australia is more often than not a hell of a lot better than average over here

This. Don't think some fans appreciate how good Lulia is just because he's not doing full lengthers. How many tries have bee scored because of poor defence out wide? As Bullseye said, it's more up the middle and second row where our problem is at the moment.

Mind boggles at the criticism of him.
