Deep down, I really, really feel that Mr and Mrs Jo Public ought to have a little more between the ears, to be brutally honest [ibut[/i you're right, of course. And our friends the wan, oops, freudian slip, our friends the investment bankers were everyone's friends, on all sides of the political divide, when they were racking up enormous profits, but someone should have been on watch, or better still should never have opened Pandora's box in the first instance.

I am not sure I have an awful lot of sympathy with anyone who fills up cans of petrol, in the kitchen, with the cooker going.

Be fair. The poor lass deserves every sympathy. We are all a product of how we are raised and educated and so dumbed down is the country that even banal points (like don't pour petrol by a naked flame) are like rocket science to many thousands. We are developing into a nation of halfwits. That's not her fault.

Indeed, in fact just this week in science: basic petrol alchemy. But not sure I explained it that well. Was it in the kitchen or outside of the kitchen? I always get them mixed up...
