| Straight Question Yed, since you seem to be a reasonable sort of chap - at least until your last post and admittedly in the face of some provocation. Do you believe - in your heart of hearts - that the only payments the members of the Wire squad, in total, are receiving fall within the Salary Cap Values of those players? And that they are not receiving income relating to their playing for Wire from any other sources, legitimate or otherwise?

Honestly no idea mate, i'd like to think everything was above board but you never know, i do hope i never see the day we do 'a Storm'.
The thing that seems to annoy most people is the fact that everyone thinks they know what x player is on.
No one complained when Saints, Leeds, Bradford now Wigan were winning everything and yet the daggers are out for Wire, why?
The only thing i can think of is that we are prepared to pay transfer fees (which don't count on cap) and other clubs would prefer to get the out of contract players.
Morley and Hodgson didn't come to Wire because they were offered huge sums just the fact we were prepared to offer them longer contracts then anyone else (this could have backfired).

Do you think everything Bradford pays is:
a) above board,
b) has been so since SL?

I would say that whatever they have been paid recently has been too much.

we dont need ratchford'"
You have to temper your view of Westerman & Ratchford with the fact they would perform better under decent coaching. Looking forward t seeing Ratchford at WIre.

Am I to expect a town full of zombies void of emotion? Bit like the curious incident of the dog in the night? all wandering round like detectives in search of how you have not bought a grand final yet? I mean simon Moran could provide the entertainment right?'"
You've lost me there. But I agree with Yed.

If by "above board" you mean in strict compliance with the salary cap
a - yes; remember, we are not spending the full cap so we have no reason to engage in activities to circumvent it, and we have no sugar daddy owner who may be both tempted to channel funds to players outside of the cap, and in a position financially to do it.
b - no; we had a cap breach so it cannot have been. And anyway, I believe quite a few clubs did not truly comply in the earlier years, when the salary cap was mainly intended to stop clubs living beyond their means. But I very much doubt any Bulls shareholder channeled personal funds to any player. I have drawn attention to the potential for that happening at clubs with a wealthy owner; I have no evidence that it has ever actually happened.
My point is that there seems to be little control over the amount of money that can be paid by "independent" third parties. I believe there should be a cap on this, as I believe there is in Oz. I also believe that each club's aggregate salary cap value, and their aggregate "third party contributions" value, should be published. Then we could better equate on-field performance with spend, and see if clubs were indeed buying success or short-changing the competition by significantly underspending.

| It is not a question about winning - it irritated me more when wigan stayed up beating the cap so obviously when everone knew.
When we get told solly was our top earner and left to be a bit part player with a higher salary you have to question this?
When other pro players are questioning the cap - you have to wonder why they would dispute it?
We would all like to pay for and buy the player we like -do not mistake that, but we do not all have wealthy backers.
Morley and hodgson did not sign for peanuts do not be naive, just because you gave longer deals does not mean you are under paying themas opposed to offering same terms but a year longer?
We have not always being straight and narrow and have been punished for this. under the old we can cop it the year after rules. The thing was when you look at how our squad was built we were signing some mixed internationals but had brought through some of our bigger stars at the time - fielden, pryce and peacock being most obvious. Not saying these were cheap but the trick is to get them on mediocre long deals before they make it - we still went over the cap -a cap that has not increased that much in 6 years which does not account for inflation and cost of living rises....
Leeds never went over cap(most players have been home grown and dont remember them being charged) - we hate them winning or losing there is little pity given when you stuff your closest rivals.
Saints went over cap because two players had bonus's for international caps and both achieved long before expected, was a technicality.

| Reardon and johnson both left the bulls (SL champions) to join warrington because they were offered more money. Rauhihi was one of if not the highest paid prop in the competition when we had him. We also had briers, gleeson, grose, fa'fili, swann amongst others yet nobody qustioned our cap spend. We have been spending the full cap for years the only difference is that our coach used to be cr@p so we never challenged for any honours and it didn't upset other teams. Now that we are doing ok people from clubs who have been done for cap breaches (wigan included) are getting all hysterical about us. Frankly, it is getting beyond boring now.

| Out from Wiredomthebull was 'told' Solly was one of Bulls' top earners - by whom? Bradford's accountant? If not, it's still only speculation.
One of the issues here with other fans I reckon is that most had come to live with the fact that Leeds, Saints, Bulls ( until recently ) and Wigan were always going to be ahead of most other clubs when it comes to getting the best players and winning the trophies. No-one was accustomed to Wire being in this 'club', and many resent it as they think Wire should be nothing more than an 'also-ran' in perpetuity - as we were from 1986-2009, along with the rest. Hence more suspicion ( or irony as domthebull would have it ) aimed at Wire than at any of the 'traditional' big clubs.
