| can't take anybody for granted. They're in the same league as us.
What I will say is that we have a very good squad that are well capable of performing very well, providing we perform to the best of our abilities.

| Provided we stay injury free I think we'll really start to see the best stuff when the warmer days come and the pitches harden up. The spine of McNally, Keyes, Chisholm and Flanagan has lots of tries in them not to mention our man Pickersgill.
Remember we have a lot of players who've yet to fully learn how to play together. When they gel it's going to be something.

| I know we are all trying to be ever so respectful and humble these days - but, [ireally[/i, we need to be beating teams like Hunslet.
OK they are unbeaten. They scraped past Hemel in Week 1 - probably the next worst team after West Wales. And on Sunday they looked barely convincing in beating North Wales
I accept we need to be guarding against complacency - and I think Kear will make sure that doesn't happen - but I am expecting a comfortable win on Sunday, albeit after some early struggles (and possibly a bit of biff involving Flanagan )

| We really need to beating everybody if we want to achieve something, don't we?
We can't just turn up and beat them though, we need to play.

| Not sure it matters how much fans being 'bullish' matters, though it doesn't look good, or win any brownie points, if we're perceived as arrogant. As I think we have learnt in the past.
As said above, I'm sure JK will keep the squad grounded, since any [iteam[/i which feels there are 'walkovers' to be had is likely get its comeuppance pretty quickly.

That's usually when the coach says - "we need to earn the right to play". Which is respect, building pressure, completing sets, 3 men in the tackle, all the simple, basic stuff. Which, fair enough, we have started to do.

| Indeed Highlander. We’ve a long season to complete yet too. This time last year we were celebrating beating Batley convincingly at home. All the pundits were saying we’d soon cancel out the points deduction and stay up.
Then Easter came and it all fell apart.
This year the squad looks much better and I don’t think we’ll see another slump like 2017 but it’s worth remembering to avoid complacency.
Given that Bustin, Wood and Johnson remain loanees I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Kear bring in a permanent signing or two if the right man became available.

All three loanees offer strength in depth and are actually proving to be decent players at this level. Don't think Wood is likely to return as he seems quite low in the pecking order, as does Johnson. Bustin however looks a real handful and I could see him back in the fold at Cas if they pick up a few knocks in the forwards.

Thankfully Cas have just signed another prop. Although admittedly he'll probably be suspended for most of the season.

| It is interesting that the idea of two SL groups of 10 seems to be getting accepted as a "done deal" (not by Frank) as if we are being told unofficially to get us ready.
Phil Caplan - who I really like listening to says it has been leaked that it will be 2 tens with one up and one down. Clubs also need to pass the criteria of reserve teams etc which is handy as AC is building ours up - what a coincidence! The rest of the clubs will get nothing and have to learn to survive which will be tough on them.
It was in the interview with the Keighley coach when he said it was vital they get into the top 20 which made me think at the time why would he give such a definitive statement like that out of the blue unless he was already aware of something.
This links nicely with the Doctors' statement that we will be back in SL within 3 years - although it looks like SL2.

Have you had a word with Kear to calm his try scoring down to stop it costing you money?

I don't see any comparison with 2017, to be honest. We've just three loanees - not half the team,(the better half at that) - and we could easily withstand losing one of them without falling apart. Though, with Alex Brown apparently off the books, it may well be that we have space on our self-imposed cap to bring in another body?

Huddersfield may be the biggest 'worry', given the way they played last night and the fact we have two of theirs..
