| Being locked into staying at Odsal is the problem. We're not there because we have nice memories of it.

| Not sure how, 'locked in', we are to be honest.
There was a pay back period from the council on the original SL lease [the 'Odsal settlement' one, granted to the Caisley era management, along with a lot of cash to pay for upkeep which was spent on players] which had a clause saying we had to pay back a substantial, but graually diminishing amount, if we moved away, but this, IIRC , was due to expire in 2017 anyway. That is all several managements ago and we don't even hold that lease now anyway, if indeed it still exists - the RFL do. Our lease is with the RFL and though I've no idea on the clauses within it, I'd guess if we default we just lose the use of the ground.
In my view, where we play is much less important than the fact that we DO play, somewhere, anywhere - ground share with Toronto if necessary. Absolutely I'd like to stay at Odsal, dreaming of a big revamp until the day I die - and then my descendants can carry on dreaming till they die, but it's not going to happen, probably not until hell freezes over.

| We’ve been locked into Odsal in one form or another since Jack Bates turned down the chance to take us to Park Avenue.
If we don’t play at Odsal we’ve two other options. One we can’t afford at VP. The other at Horsfall which is only suitable for a lower tier club.
Horsfall would see us forgetting any kind of ambition and that turns me off personally. It’s a bridge too far for me.
Moving outside the city is also a red line for me too.

According to Peter Hood from quite a few years back he said the Bradford Bulls name is a franchise one and not tied to Odsal, meaning that it could up sticks and start elsewhere like an NFL franchise! Though it would be a brave investor to go down that route!

You have to hope it never comes to that but, as a very short term expedient, it may be the only way to carry on.

It wouldn't be "carrying on" though would it? It'd be the final nail.
You can only have so many fresh starts in lower and lower tiers before nobody cares anymore. The day we move out of Bradford we stop having a club IMO.

| Another problem Odsal now has going against it is that we have no idea what is to become of Richard Dunns when it is closed down. If that land is redeveloped, that is a huge loss of car parking space for fans. If we are to have any ambition of getting back to larger crowds anytime soon this would be a major concern for me.

| At the moment we aren't playing full stop. However, Odsal is still home and that is where I think we will continue to play should we get out of this awful mess.
Long term however, I think Lawn has the right idea. All it takes is someone with some ambition and cash and they could make something really big at Odsal.
Sell the existing bowl for landfill (agreement needed by the council), use the money to build a community stadium on the land where Richard Dunn's currently sits (nothing flash... 10k capacity max) , expand to include hotel and other retail/leisure units, use money left from sale of Odsal and other builds to re-invest back into Bradford Council and everyone's a winner.
I cannot see a reason why with some blood and guts it cannot be done.

| I've seen a few shouts for a hotel but would Cedar Court at top of M606 kick off about it?
We all know Morrisons poo-pooed the Tesco option in the early noughties.

| Quote: Pumpetypump "I'm a stuck record but, with no disrespect to the horror of the disaster, we will never get city out of that macabre shrine so any notion of ground share can be forgotten.'"
I may not have worded this in exactly the same way but this is exactly it.
I realise that we are also in far greater need of a groundshare than the Bantams are but I am merely trying to look at the sensible solution.
The RL/Football divide that seems to be prominent between the fans in every city except for Leeds is ridiculous and people really need to be realistic. The emotional attachment to VP will always be a divisive issue also. I realise the reasons why City fans want to remain there but surely there could be another way of honouring the lost supporters? They have the plaque on the wall of the stadium (which could surely be displayed at any other development that would take place on the VP site) and also the memorial at Centenery Square?
It could also be mentioned that the stadium as it is now is also completely different for the one that was there that fateful day. (bar the area behind the goal to the left of the main stand I believe?)

| I don't know much about City but I imagine now they seem to be out of their financial strife and bobbing along nicely, alongside a probably equally shackling ground arrangement, I doubt they'd want or need to move.

Although a very logical solution, my issue with it is this:
If we were gonna build a new stadium, surely it would be with the ambition or at least hope that it would be a stadium suitable to be picked to host cup finals or maybe even internationals and such like?
Not sure how attractive a proposition such a stadium would be, if it was plonked right next to a land fill site?!
