| Quote: mat "It's not a loan. Lovegrove officially left London before we announced his one month trial. If he looks ok we sign on a deal if he doesn't we aren't stuck with him for a yr or two. And it gives us cover while we have four props injured. Think that's pretty sensible way of doing things as opposed to giving out one and two year deals on players who we aren't sure about, like we did last year.'"
There is a small risk that he impresses for us, then someone else offers him a contact before we tie him up. But I agree, it's 95% in our favour and with current injury situation, makes all the sense in the world.

True there is that risk, but we have decent props to come back in so not end of world if someone nabs him at end of trial. We get cover for next few weeks at a bare minimum so think it's a risk worth taking.

| I'd be tempted to give Lovegrove the number 7 shirt, just to watch the meltdown that would occur shortly afterwards.
(Edit: And minutes after I posted that, it's confirmed he's wearing number 35. Spoilsports.)

| The risk of him impressing and leaving for someone else at the end of the months trial was what I meant, although I worded it badly. I would hope if we offered him a contract he would stick with us as the team who offered him a chance in the first place but you never know and yes I agree, he's great cover for our injuries.

| From what I recall of him Lovegrove at his worst will be an improvement on Luaki , Fleming & Crossley

Well the London fans seem gutted he's gone and I know KR fans were similarly gutted when he left them last year. In fact I haven't really seen any negative comments about him from his previous clubs fans

| Not that it necessarily translates well to the real world but he was the star back row of my fantasy team a couple of years back. He gets through a huge amount of work.

| If he's playing 35 then the squad must now be about the size of a NFL team.

| London released him for 'personal reasons'. I wonder if he has family oop north that might explain that.

think reason mentioned on london site was cost of living in london was too much for him on a championship wage.

Maybe I can comment on this slightly, how true I don't know.
Last year London were using part of their salary cap to cover the rent for players houses, this year they are not. The players will be getting paid a bit more but are having to cover all the living costs themselves now which as we know will be quite a lot in London, I do not know if this is the reason for him leaving London. I shall try find out

| Andrew Henderson was in the media not long ago saying that London should have a larger salary cap or funding than other teams due to the cost of living.
In fairness, he may have a point as the cost of living is so much more. However you could also see the flip side of it being unfair on other clubs to get less funding just because of geographical location.

| A quick read of the thread on the London board makes it clear why he's left them.

Well, 'London weighting' is the norm in national companies so I would have thought something like that could be worked out for to RL too? Though I guess the 'flat cappers' will be up in arms.

We're not all Southern Softies: |
|
| Absolutely gutted to see Lovegrove forced to leave us at London.
Always gave 110% when on the pitch, gave us real grunt up front for all the time he was playing.
Off the pitch, he was a real club man.
Always ready to talk to the fans & fully bought into the London experience.
Great signing for you & I wish him all the best
