| Quote Wadski="Wadski"Speedway and stock car racing would be very entertaining, especially with the Coral stand in the middle of the track.'"
Well the Speedway Control Bureau apparently inspected the ground and confirmed the track met their specification.

| If I was on a speedway bike on the Odsal track now I’d be a bit wary of those steel girders that go into the ground on the bend by the Coral Stand. Can that really be safe? Where would they put the pits?

Would need some investment - but the first time I went to Odsal was to see the speedway so there could be enough interest to make it worthwhile paying for the changes. Mind you the bikes were steam powered back then

| If they did go ahead with speedway the coral stand would have to be removed .As for safety there would have to be changes to comply with the requirements for safety of the speedway riders. At Owlerton in Sheffield they use the stadium for dogs, speedway and car racing. All these have different requirements, the track is changed between events, steel posts and cables for car racing ,which is removed for speedway and dog racing.

The Coral stand is curved round the old track line and the new air fences as seen on Sky speedway will protect the riders from the posts. The main issue with the track is drainage but any new promoter would have to deal with that. My main problem with stock cars is the bits that fall off and bury themselves into the pitch.

Clearly totally untrue
Do you honestly think they would even, for a second, countenance the removal of the only part of the entire stadium that has the capacity to make money?

| And the only bit we own!
How does this fit with our rental agreement? I meant to ask when the gigs were being advertised. Can we put on non-rugby events and benefit from any profit?

| Would have though they would have to be put on the rental agreement if they want to schedule weekly races thier so the bulls may be able to pay less.
Would depend upon how plans mole get on with regard to the ground share, but if mole wants to use the concessions ok would make some profit from.that would have thought.

I think the RFL have to approve it (as our landlord, rather than as the Governing Body) but that from what I've read we have approval pretty much rubber stamped for anything we want to do.
I only say that because I remember reading at the time of the concerts and when it came out about the Speedway, that the RFL had approved both without much fuss.
I could be wrong though. If people know better feel free to correct me.

| Quote davetrin="davetrin"I have read elsewhere that there are plans to create extra revenue by bringing speedway back to Odsal next year. Also there is a possibility of stock car racing returning in 2015.Both of these sports used to be very popular in Bradford ,it would make sense not to rely purely on Rugby to finance Odsal.'"
may sound stupid but the club ought to see if they could encourage its Bradford public and open the stadium up to Kabaddi competition, to you and me a form of British bull dog
