| Maybe - my source said this was very recent - took place when Rohan was in post.

Well we're probably looking for a u16's coach if Beattie steps up to u19s as suggested in today's t&a. Was a strong rumour Leon was set to sign for this year a few weeks back but then hull got an injury to one of there half a and decided not to release him early.

Perhaps he should sell up and move back from France!

Lol, that crossed my mind - not sure I'd want to leave Canet either!

| I thought it was pretty much nailed on that Leon will be returning to the club for his final playing contract.

| Ugh, I'm really not sure what to think of these Pryce rumours. If they're true then it almost certainly means Gaskell is leaving, and the whole thing just screams of more blind sentimentality like the Jimmy Lowes farce.
Leon will be 35 before the start of next season. If you remove the name and were simply told that we would be signing a 35 year old stand off, would you be happy about it?

| I can't really think of better replacement for a stand off than Pryce should we lose Gaskell. Obviously I would prefer to keep Gaskell but Leon is still a good player.

Ridyard is ooc, so there's one straight off the bat.

I don't think it necessarily means Gaskell is leaving. Leon's currently playing for the side currently topping the table and playing well. Ridyard is a good HB, but has played pretty much all his rugby in the championship. Anyway he looks nailed on to be joining Rowley in Toronto. Leon would be a brilliant signing for us and if he didn't want to finish his career with us, the top championship clubs and lower SL sides would be all trying to sign him.
As for the age, we're crying out for a bit of experience in the middle of the field.

About 5-6 years ago I used to think avoid signing anyone over 30 but now I'm completely ok with signing someone well over 30 if they're good enough, look at Beaver for example. I'd still take Lynch at 35 and Brough is still doing it and he's 33. These days it seems good players can play longer. I'd be ok with re-signing Leon. We need a half who is an older head. (But a Pryce / Gaskell combo wouldn't work, I'm thinking more a Deacon type mould to play that role)

| Can someone remind me of what the criteria were for your club income to count for the salary cap the RFL would allow you?
It was something to do with club specific income. So ticket sales, merchandising counted. Probably sponsorship as well, but central RFL funding didn't?

If we could get Leon playing as he is now he would certainly be an asset, my issue is although he has all the experience in the world he goes missing for large periods of a game and for me to get us up to that next level we need someone who can guide us round and want constant involvement for the 80. Not that id ever want him but someone like a Wilkin (only for his leaderhsip not playing ability) or Kurt Gidley. Like I say im not suggesting signing these players as its out of the realms of possibility I just mean the influence they have for most of the game not just in fits and starts, which is why I would take Ridyard in a heartbeat for all that Brierley grabbed the headlines he was the main man in that Leigh team
