We are aware of his match comments, which seek to ignore some of the no nowt, press pack who persist in asking dim questions akin to "so close yet so far Brian", "that defeat must be really disappointing", "injuries must have hurt you". That he is so patient is more of a surprise. The game needs personalities not subservient t1ts.

I think the press are scared to ask McDermott anything more "challenging".

I can only deduce that we are waiting until after the Quins game to announce McDermott - in case announcing before makes that game a little awkward.

Im not sure thats the case although I can see the logic. [iIf [/iit is McDermott we also need to bear in mind he is contracted next season at Quins, so any announcement will, I guess, have to meet with the approval of his current employers in line with whatever compensation is owed. So any announcement timing probably isn't just up to us.

Still all guesswork mind.

I still wish we could get Menzies involved in some way.

Lets hope the new coach wants Menzies to sign up for another year.

Thing is we have to make it look like new coach is making the decisions re signings so we cant announce them before we announce the coach. Langley was specifically mentioned as being close to re-signing when we announced sykes.

McDermott was very much in the running, if he knows he hasn't got it, I would suggest that we have made a decision.

IF indeed it is not yet another big wind-up.

If it is, then yes you would assume from the press reports we have gone for Potter. If so, then I'll permit myself a Equally, I'll not be looking for a rope and a low beam if it transpires it IS Mac after all.

Remember though that not once has the club - to its credit, IMO - named names. Connor has flown kites, whether at the club's behest or otherwise no doubt we will find out in time. But the club remains tight-lipped, as it should be.

There IS of course the risk that the eternal optimist Debaser is right. I'm sure he will understand when I say I bloody well hope not, cos if perchance he IS then events would have developed not necessarily to our advantage...

Whatever decision the club has reached counts for nothing until the leading candidate makes the same decision. Remember that as soon as the club makes an offer, the balance of power swings almost entirely to the candidate.

And you do NOT tell the runners-up that they are out until your chosen one has accepted and references etc all come in OK.

So IF...BIG IF...Mac has been told he is out and IF...BIG IF...it was between him and Potter, then logically you would assume Potter has been offered the job and has accepted it.
