| Not seen it mentioned on here yet, but Hood was a big fan of Sykes however he was 'clearly not a stand off'. And that he is doing a temporary job at 6 for us, or words to that effect.
After a statement like that by the chairman, would it be fair to assume that we have got someone line up for 6 next year?

Oh yes. In fact, Hood even said something like "We know he's not a Halfback, you know he's not a Halfback, He knows he's not a Halfback". Then followed it up with how Sykes has more passion and commitment for this club than anyone and would do anything his coach asks him to do.

Yes I think your quote was closer to the actual words used!
But the gist of it seems to be that we have hopefully moved to strengthen this key area.

| Quote: bewaresheep "OK... two things that have sprung to mind whilst writing on another post.
1. Last night Mr. Hoody held up a dog eared piece of market research carried out by the RL that rated what fans valued when watching RL. This showed that matchday entertainment (other than the clowns on the pitch!) was significantly less important than whatever the other columns were. He used this to justify the lack of investment in the gameday entertainment.
I was thinking about this whilst he was saying it and it's been bugging me a bit during the night as well. My own thoughts are that as a club it was something we did better than any other both on the pitch with bands and stuff as well as around the ground with things like face painting and other stuff for the kids. One of the main reasons we were so successful in this to my mind is the fact that once you enter the stadium itself there is a vast amount of space away from the terraces where you could get the kids entertainment in whilst the parents had a drink or something to eat, this is something that no other club was able to replicate due to the limits of their respective grounds.
'"
The money spent on the entertainment side worked in 1996 because it complemented what was happening on the field. It added to the buzz, it didnt create it. The kids came along for both rugby and non rugby reasons, the feeling that things were happening, the club were ahead of the rest and they didnt have to be a rugby expert to enjoy themselves.
The Bulls could spend a large fortune on marketing at the moment and it would have no effect. Until we turn the corner in playing terms it would be just throwing money away.

| Re: OSV, the other parties involved along with the Bulls were (if I remember correctly); Bradford council (see all previous posts), Sport England & Yorkshire Forward.
Yorkshire Forward, along with all the other RDA's in the country is being disbanded as a money wasting Quango. YF will cease to exist beyond March 2012 and is currently having its budgetrs ripped apart by the Budget-Cutting MP's, how therefore they (YF) are still expected to be contributing to any wild dream of OSV is quite simply beyond me.

Yes, I agree with that up to a point and have said similar things myself, especially with regards to the latter half of this season. Though it pains me to say it, there's no point chucking good money after bad.
However... the panel last night seemed pretty confident that we were going to be bringining in the sort of players who will capture the imagination and, of course, we have a new coach. If this is the case then maybe, for the first few games of next season at least, it's worth investing in (budget, of course, permitting)
Bang! New Coach!
Bang! New players!
Bang! New Start!
Bang! New Season!
Come and watch the Bulls and see the good times return t'Odsal in 2011!

Indeed. You can't blame the club for putting a positive spin on things, but a familiar pattern seems to be developing:
Bulls go through injury crisis / long losing run / humiliating defeats / lose star player(s) to rivals or NRL
Air of doom and gloom pervades among fans, attendances fall
Fans forum announced
Club re-instills positivity in naysayer fans, backed up by re-signing of club stalwart who probably isn't going anywhere anyway, new signs of progress at OSV
Fans regain optimism with start of new season
And repeat...
Maybe I'm being somewhat cynical but from the outside it does appear to be getting a bit like groundhog day. Perhaps Potter will be the vital ingredient to break the cycle?

Well, it could just mean that when Orford returns fit and ready to go, Kearny will return to six.
That though was Macca's decision, and it was a calculated risk which left us short when Orford was crocked. There's no reason to think that Potter would go along with the same line up and I hope he doesn't; why would he though, it didn't work. Kearny at FB and new half to partner Orford would be far more logical.

| Between the panel (and in particular Paul Medley), the suggestion was that next year, Cain Southernwood is likely to get more game time too. He hasn't been used much this year because he joined mid-season and they want to get him used to the systems and have a full pre-season in place before being used regularly. Paul said though that when Cain was signed, it was primarily to start using him next season, not this one.

| Other than Adey does anyone else that was sat on the bullbuilder table post on here? Bewaresheep and I were stood up behind that table and I'm always itching to put faces to posters.
And I take it Blotto was sat at the back to the right of Adey?

Blotto was sat behind Adey yes.
Mission, Wigan Bull, Bully Boxer and myself were also sat at that table in Bullbuilder shirts. MDF was the one who asked the Bullbuilder question from the floor at the end (from nearer the bar). There was also another member, but I don't know what name Ken posts under on here (or even if he does)? Bullseye was sat very near too.
Ex Bulldog and another (was it Bulliac? my memory is disappearing now....) also said hello and had a bit of a chin wag.

From memory, we were seated from Adey, going clockwise:
Adey, Missions Dad, Missions missus, Mission, me, my Mum, Dilligaf!

I think that's right yeah. Bully Boxer was sat at the other side of Adey to the rest of us I think.
