Seems the Burgess stories to Souths still won't go away:
www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... 175tr.html?
We may not see George EVER play for the first team at this rate. If Souths do get him over on loan and he turns out to be a success, I can't see the lad coming back anytime soon and we'll end up getting nothing for him.
Good luck to the lad if he does go over though - definitely wouldn't stop the opportunity for him. Just a shame it may mean we miss out on the player he may become, especially after helping to develop him. Makes a bit of a mockery of our youth set-up and aims for the future.

| I still don't get why the club are even considering a loan move.
It's clear that George and probably Tom too are going to leave when their contract is up and go join Sam. So if that's the case, why waste time with them anymore? If Souths want them now, either get them to pay a transfer fee and take them or just release them and stop wasting our time.
A loan move doesn't seem to help us at all.

I get the impression they are keen on George but less so on the other two but to keep Sam happy, they are pushing publicly for all three. I think that they'd like to get George as he seems to be the one that might progress into a good player.
Agree it seems daft to go for a loan move, if they're off and Souths want him and his brother - may as well get something now, rather than nothing in future and tie in some super dooper clause ala Harris and Leeds.

| The problem the Burgii will have if they succumb to Souths and Sams overtures, is that they will be competing with a lot of youngsters of the same age group with the same or better ability and they may end up staying in the Jersy Flegg comp.
Hopefully Medders and the Club will impart some common sense into them, that they will be better off getting at 2 yrs of full SL time under their belts before considering options in the NRL, cause if they are good enough they will get better deals than Souths thrown at them and the Club will get better money for their investment!

| Connor just Tweeted that he hasn't ruled out us signing Leon - just that he ruled out that it wouldn't be him announced today.
He then tweeted:
Not saying it defo will happen but not saying it won't either.

| To be fair, on Twitter Connor ruled out signing "Price" for this signing, he didn't say we're not signing Pryce at all.....
#edit# too slow, as the badger says above...

That's unfair, every single player we develop is a free human being and can and will do what they want. George is as yet unproven but then regardless of what sort of a player he is or may become, how is it in any way a criticism of our set-up if he leaves for Aus? If there was the slightest thing we could do then sure, but since there isn't...?

The point I was trying to get across was that we are spending a lot of time and effort with our junior players with the aim of having a "homegrown" team. Would you agree that we have spent a lot of time and effort looking after George with an eye on him developing and playing for Bradford Bulls? Any compensation we are likely to receive will be minimal and may not cover the costs associated with his development?
If at the first opportunity they are jumping ship (Wardle springs to mind) we are defeating the object and Bullbuilder may as well pack up now.
I understand your point that they are all "free to do as they please" and I would not expect anyone to turn down the opportunity of a lifetime. I pointed out in the same post that I would wish him well.
However, if we become a club producing players for other teams benefit we need to have a re-think of how we do things. OK - that is a bit general, but if more and more of our youngsters are targetted BEFORE we as a club benefit from their development, we will need to come up with another way of doing things and tieing these lads in before other clubs at home and abroad come sniffing.
